Why do rails level to -0.20?

Something that may make your task easier.

CM2 allows you to edit built-in objects, you may have some errors or warnings but that should not be much of a problem.

If you add the following tag to the fixed-track components they become height adjustable.

height-range -1,1

If you are setting your track to a fixed minus value, presumably -0.2 then make the height setting above -0.2,0. This will save you having to fiddle to get the height exact. If you intend to distribute your map, your users will have to make the same changes or ignore the raised track sections.

I do intend on redistributing it one day, when I'm happy with it, but if that means people are getting it in such a state I will never be happy with it. I'm so fed up with having to edit other peoples routes so that they look and work well, so much so that I never wish the week long task of fixing it up upon anyone who uses my routes. :'(

Actually, this kind of setting of user revised heights is saved in the map file, and TRS does not re-set heights of items changed in this way when the map is loaded by someone else without those modifications. Effectively TRS only checks the height-range tag when you try to adjust the item's height, so if it's loaded out of range in a map it stays there.

p.s. sorry - nit-picking again :o

Paul

Not nitpicking, just good news. If he is ready to do some error correcting where necessary, it looks as though he can solve his problem.

Really? Am I really the only person on this forum who finds this the most irritation thing about Trainz? I've abolished months of work on layouts because of this problem.

Don't worry i hate it as well, Its even worse with roads. But i usually create short ( As in under 10 squares of track ) layouts so lowering it by hand is ok.

It is a pain - I usually raise the ground a little under track and roads once I have all the spline heights set (yellow circles).

Paul

I wouldn't worry too much about the track at this point. With TS2009, you can easily replace the "bad" track with a new and better one once it's available from the content creators.
