Why are threads/posts showing yesterday when they were made today?

Why are the threads and/or posts showing yesterday, when they were written today?

For example I looked at my post in another thread here, it was written at about 23:05 (allowing for daylight saving time), yet I looked at it about 45 minutes later (about 23:50), but it had "yesterday". All the threads that I saw written before 12 midnight tonight, had yesterday, but a few hours before that, the posts showed today.

PS: Yes I know it's "tomorrow" when this thread was written, but this happened BEFORE 12 midnight before anyone says anything about that. I.e. They are showing 24 hours before they were written.

Probably because ... now ... is then, and today is ... tomorrow, and it is summertime in Australia (but I'm freezing here in PA, and I got 2 pair of long johns on), and the water runs the oppposte dirrection down the drain ... when comparing the US EST Northern Hemisphere to Australian time.:hehe:
Take two of these ... and call me in the morning ... I mean, tomorrow night ... Oh, Whenever

If you want a laugh look at the "UK Screenshots" thread where the first post is supposedly by me (actually the thread was started by Escafeld).
Then look at the date my post was posted....:D

I think it's got something to do with time zones - when a user is not logged in, it shows as American time, if they are logged in, it shows as their local time.

EDIT: If you think that's strange, have a look at some of the members' last activity dates (especially ones that haven't posted anything) - I think that 1970 is the earliest that the forum software can handle (it probably needs an update)

I get the same thing in CM3 under the 'Today' tab. Obviously the silly thing looks at server time, not the system clock. Bit of an oops there Chris?

Andy :)

For me when logged in. Here in NSW forum time is (GMT+10) 1Hr behind local time as daylight saving is not taken into account .But if I'm only viewing not logged in it's (GMT-5).

Then again it's also Christmas Time ( the silly season ) & Auran are from Queensland !

If you have time zone problems with the forum then go to "User CP" which is towards the top on this forum page, and select "Edit Option", scroll to the bottom of the page displayed and set your preferred time zone etc.

This only works if you are logged in.
