Who's Going to Multi-play?

Comodo firewall

Mc --

" ... Commodo Internet Security ... "

I use the Comodo firewall without any problems.

Do you have it in "Custom Policy" mode? When you first run Trainz you might have to Tab out to see if it is requesting permission to connect. Make sure it remembers your answer.

And you have turned the Windows firewall off?

As I said, it works perfectly for me.

This sounds like an interesting one. Were the cars that 'teleported' being controlled by another player?

Also, do you happen to know what your latency may have been like at the time? The multiplayer rule icon on the menu bar will change colour depending on your network latency (for a quick & easy indication). If you hover the mouse cursor over it, it will provide a more precise value.

Any more info you can provide about this would be great.

I was switching at the end of some branch. I dropped my cars off, ran around the wye, and then started to back up onto a seperate siding to pick up a boxcar. I was about halfway to the boxcar when the cut of cars that I had dropped off on the siding teleported over and derailed me. It was quite surprising.

Oh, and one more thing that I noticed. Sometimes the switch doesn't unlock until I drive about 8-10 train lenghts away from it. It is pretty irritating, and only seems to happen when the rear of my train is facing the switch.

Unlike others I haven't had any -major- issues with the switch locks. If I'm approaching a switch set against me I can usually stop within about 100' from it and it will unlock, same with going past it. I tried the whole thing out last night on harbormaster on a fresh 2010 install and was surprised during a switching move with another train. Right after I coupled onto the head end of their train (while their power was seperated) I was prompted with "MAKE TEN SWITCHING MOVES, YARD HOSTLER, GO!" as my train started careening under its own power across the map at speeds upwards of 250mph and steadilly climbing. I have no idea how it happened or why, but it was hilarious nonetheless.

I don´t know why but it doesn´t work with my trainz. Look at the photos.

Yes, ok, alright, it´s a beta, but it shouldn´t "close" all those options in single player >.<

We said what we wanted multiplayer, and we told Auran how we wanted. Allowing the compatibility mode...

And for the last, I´m not the only one saying this...

No your just the one shouting the loudest.

I've been logged into a server all morning, having a blast with a bunch of people. It would be nice if there were more routes, but that will come with time.

really not bad for a beta

I was also driving around a bit for some time or even some time more:hehe:.
Basically it's really working fine, a few things I have noticed.

- A few consists are kind of "ghost consists", because you can't couple them. Seemed to be a problem with two tracks on top of each other. The cars seemed to be sunken in. Have seen that At the multi-industries 22 in PO&N. So the cars are there but not connected to the normal tracks.

- While I was driving my train, another engine was driving from the back through my train on the same track. When it was through it coupled to my first engine and I lost control of the train. Then I tried to uncouple one engine with all the cars and it beamed me back to where I was driven over and the train drove from there with 230mph, yes twohundredthirty miles per hour, until it derailed. I tried to break it but to no avail. This seemed to be part of the accident glitch already reported.

Besides that it worked really good, even with the frame rates and it was a lot of fun. I like it so far :D

Cheers Kay

to clarify, i was session admin and had brought a small train to a track and parked it. i decoupled my power and moved off onto another track to switch some more cars. he wanted to take a car off of the consist i had left on the track but as soon as he coupled to it it pushed him around the layout at an alarming speed. i removed his name from the train and it instantly stopped and was able to recover.

in one of the sessions i was trying with others, several unmanned trains were moving around. they would come right down the track at me and 'crash' into
my train and push it along. all i could do was decouple and try to outrun it to get away. i found that moving to that train and stopping it was the only fix.

its almost like the drivers abandon their trains and leave them running all over with nobody at the controls. runaway trainz?

the harbor master has several places trains cant go, because the tracks are not connected or something else is keeping them from using the track. most fo the supplied locomotives in the sandbox mode cannot be used because the turntable is apparently not connected to the tracks leading up to it. any attempt to put them on or across the turntable leads to derailment.

Well, thought I would give this a try. Installed the beta patch and it completed with no errors, tried to start the game after a restart of pc and :-

Nothing, nada, black screen, Trainz.exe is not responding etc etc.

Am I glad I made a backup. :D

So I guess I will be waiting until something more stable is released.

My same problem.

Of course, as an angry customer with Auran, they should listen us. But btw, it´s 12am here and I don´t feel saying 1000 times the same thing. So before you say nothing again in reply to this message I should say straight away "Yes to all". Like when updating a program, it can´t do it automaticly, no, you have to say yes to all.

Now everyone here, have a nice day (for USA), good morning (for Japan) and good night for the ones sleeping right now.

Ok, that gives me something to go on, thank you :)

I'll investigate the switch locking distance with respect to train facing and direction of travel while I'm at it.

You might try downloading the updates in Content Manager, it should be easier to see what's failing that way.

1. Open Content Manager
2. Search for "Out of Date" and "Location, local"
3. Select all, right-click, and choose "View Asset Versions"
4. Choose "View in main list" on the displayed dialog
5. Add every asset to the download helper and wait for them to download, or fail

This will download the latest version available of every local asset, which should allow you to join. My guess is that the download is failing in game due to the "maximum connected users" error being reported by the Download Station, but this error isn't shown in game.

Client controlled trains should automatically come to a halt when the owning player leaves the game. I'll make sure that's still working shortly. However, if the train is given AI commands the AI will continue to run if even the player leaves. Of course, the AI shouldn't run in to you though.

I've never had any problems with the turntable in Harbour Master, but I can't say I've tried it from every direction. I'll check it with all the nearby trains this morning.

Well, I fixed the FPS issue with the nvidia driver setup, but got my 'lines" from splines back.

I am not able to fix the connection issues (sparatic). I deleted all the global and custom settings forcing Comodo to rebuild them, however no go. Clueless.
