Thanks for the pictures! It seems like it will be successful then, I'm glad some of you that have bothered to post are having a good time with it! I'm sure when it's a full release, and maybe later on down the road when groups are able to set up their own servers (guessing), they can tackle the compatibility -vs- native mode issue by their lonesome.

BTW: it IS "compatibility". Combat is another game...:D
 
An interesting question would be... while the Beta is free to play (of course), what about full release?
My guess would be you have to purchase a FCT to be able to use multiplayer or something like that... Let's speculate! :)
 
It's very impressive for a first beta. :D

Agree - was with Justin of JointedRail and we both agree this has great potential.

The "Click to Focus" on a person enterring the game who claimed a driver/consist is cool, but a pain to get back to your consist. I had to scroll thru the chat dialog all the way back to where I claimed my engine.

The switch lock feature is cool too. It stops people from hitting each other on a one track main.
 
I have a few Questions.

1.Does it form a separate install from your trainz install or do I have to backup everything I have?

2.If one can't be done, can I install the patch to a second install?

I really don't want to try mutiplayer until I can be insured nothing can happen to my install with all my custom content.

1 - you should backup
2 - no idea really. I doubt that

I would expect them to charge for the Full Release, and require an FCT! That's business baby!:D
 
In fact, that is what I am doing right now. I have to say, I am a little less perturbed over the compatibility crap now that I have a separate multiplayer build, but I just hope that they keep it when the full version comes out. (Compatibility mode that is.)

Yes. Make sure, of course, that the second install has the latest Service Patch.

Make sure you manually direct the patch to the correct folder. Mine is Auran/TS2010_multiplayer

When manually downloading items from the Download Station using the DLS "Download Helper" they will go into whichever Content Manager is open.

Any ideas?

so how is the community, now that we get to see how we all like to drive...?

5 pages of bitching and crying and posting general nonsence and now you say you aren't bothered about it. :o

The suggestion to have a second install to test multiplayer was on the first page. (And should have been pretty obvious to anyone who stopped and thought about it before launching into an extended rant)

It wasn't bitching or crying. It was posting legitimate points. The only reason that it "doesn't bother me" now is that it won't mess **** up if I decide that multiplayer isn't worth it. I don't have to sacrifice all of the good things in TRS for what could very well be, a polished turd.

On this note, Multiplayer is pretty fun. It is showing quite a bit of potential. I have run into some bugs though.

If you accidentally ram another person, the game goes screwy and may or may not derail the train. (Instead just throwing the trains down the tracks.) We also had an issue where one driver couldn't see the other driver until his train mysteriously derailed.

I was also switching a cut of cars when the cars three tracks over teleported onto my track and derailed me.

Also, for some reason, some cars are ghosts and you can't hook up to them. We also had an issue with a P42 and consist appearing on the route for me, but nobody else.

And finally, from time to time, everything but the textured ground dissapears.


This isn't bitching and moaning btw. MP is pretty fun. This is just stuff that I noticed that should be addressed. Does anyone know where we go to post what we find bug wise?
 
having a quick look at sessions in surveyor, couldnt we add the mutliplayer rule to any session, put it on the download station and it should work?
