Which TRAINZ Sim is Best for Me?

Thanks ktain.ny , That might be what I end up doing. TANE looks like the way to go.
Is it the same as , or do you have any thoughts on TMR17?
So many different versions available anymore it is hard to decide and gets quite confusing.
I started with #6 (2006) and now there are some 26 versions... :o

Edit: I see that TMR2017 is Not the same and is Download only at present so I'm ruling that out for now.
Thanks again...
Glad I could help! If you need anything, don't hesitate to send me a DM!

Thanks hiawathamr,
Download bandwidth is limited here so TMR17 is out.
Sounds like TANE is the way to go... I can get a CD then download the updates as needed.
(have to get through the mail... Cant find software in a big store like you used to... I tried)

The biggest problem I have with a digital download is the Satellite bandwidth i have to deal with as well as the sometimes unstable downloading. Not sure of the size of the download. But if it is large and fails I have to start over. (1gb started three times =2.4gb(with crashes) out of my 12gb available.)

Is the surveyor interface much different from older versions? Have they added to the driver interface? How far back, is it backward compatible?

I appreciate all input and so will others struggling with the same questions.
Thanks

If you need to do it 2 or 3 or more times until it takes, once you get it, you got it, store it on a thumb drive somewhere so you can reload it when needed like a DVD. It seems to be the new way of doing things.

From what I have figured out, you need to do some jumping through hoops to upgrade your older content and routes, but can be done if you look at the forums here and follow the instructions provided, and its not exactly straight forward, but can be achieved.

If you are truly going to install TANE, make sure you have a 64 bit computer with at least 8 gig ram (16 or more recommended), I would recommend a i7 quad core with 16 gig and a SSD hard drive with a high end video card or you might be disappointed. I would also say either install on a external SSD or make the PC you are going to use only for TANE to get the most out of it. The program is a resource pig, but runs great if you give it what it wants IMO.

Your welcome, yeah if you want the box copy, TANE is the way to go. the updates (unit SP2 comes out) are small in size, usually 30Mb to 100Mb. Its hard to find the best software in store these days, I would agree.
TMR17 was recently released, so they would have it digital, and might keep it that way

Thank you everyone for all your input. The differences between versions have become visible and I have decided to order TANE.
It should be here next week in time for my birthday which will be awesome. I will probably have to set the distances down in the settings to get smooth movement, but I am ready to upgrade the GPU to a much more powerful one. Have had this one a while and thing have changed out there.

I really appreciate all perspectives and look forward to spending some more time on here, and sharing some designs and routes.

Thank You All
(Anxiously waiting for TANE)
