hello: just thinking:

as I was playing with my trs06 I was thinking what would happen if my hard drive crash since auran does not support this game. would I still able to install the trs06 useing my serail number that came with it into the new hard drive and use all my rolling stock and engines that I have downloaded? provided that I have save them to a external hard drive.

I do not know how long a hard drive should last but just in case. I like to be prepare with that info just in case hopfully not .

You will still be able to reinstall TRS2006 regardless of support date. Upon entering the key into the installer the game should install normally. I have no experience in moving assets around to different storage devices so someone else may be able to guide you with that.

In TRS2006 the only thing to back up on a memory stick, DVD, or an external hard drive, are your custom made routes "Saved As A CDP" ... and your latest "Local" file (which might be quite large in size) ... and possibly all your downloaded CDP assets.

Some 1-2TB external hard drives are @ $100 USD

hello cascaderaiload:

yeah I figured that, I need to start saveing again I got alot of downloaded stuff right now not includeding the ones I saved.

hey just changing the subject here in trs06 if I click on options in launcher and then click on advance options and then I see resource cache size it is set at 32. I have w7 64 bit so should I switch the resource cache size to 64 also? I do not know too much about this. it also lists 128,256,512. it looks like to me that it has to do with the graphics I could be wrong.

Got an external HDD? And do You have the free space needed to backup Your Trainz?

Then just copy Your N3V Games Folder (TS12) or Auran Folder (TS 2010 and earlier) to the external drive. Be patient, there are a lot of files and folders to copy.

After the copy is done, Your external HDD will contain a complete clone of Your installation including whatever You have downloaded and installed.

This is easier than backing up assets and remembering where You put it.

I wouldn't say it's an exact clone, as that is incorrect.

Whilst it is a exact file clone, there are registry entries that would not be included.
