I'm running a VERY similar system ( Athlon ii x2 250 3.3GHz, 4Gb RAM, Radeon 4670) and I can say that 2009 runs quiet well. I found when i tried 2010 however it began to stutter

I run 2009 succesfully with my system too but if you have Vista or 7 turn off Aero for improved Trainz performance

Thanks, I'm running Windows XP. Which 2009 should I get the World Builder Edition or Engineers Edititon as I like to build my own routes too.

I have a similar but less powerful system and I run TS2012 quite happily. I do have the distance slider down to 2500. The later versions are supposed to be more efficient, I think?

Why not buy from N3V and let them get the money, instead of some completely unnecessary middleman??

TS12. It runs better than Ts10 for me, and the graphics are significantly better. I had Ts10 crash on many an occasion, but TS12 has crashed maybe once. Plus, the doppler effect is awesome. Take my advice, go for the latest and greatest ;)

Hi Mick,

Fair point but the N3V version is twice the price on the current exchange rates and I would guess that Justtrains have paid a licence fee to N3V anyway? I too have read that later versions have better performance for the same specs. It is certainly true for going from 2006 to 2009 on the same version

N3V get about 15% of the price if you buy through retail, 100% if you buy direct. http://www.auran.com/shop/display_product.php?PID=362

If you have a registered copy and are on the email list N3V typically has 25% and 50% off offers floating around and occasionally there are vouchers as well. First stop is check your vouchers there could be one for TS12 floating in there. Second go through your deleted newsletter emails for offers. If you buy the digital download you don't get done for postage and are less likely to get a customs handling charge on it.

Technically using the same distance settings and assets TS12 will give better frame rates 99% of the time than any other version. TRS2006 only uses one core, TS12 can use both.

I can't remember if it was 2009 or 2010 - but it ran smoothly on medium detailed maps in Win 7 but not in XP, much to my amazement.

Wolfdale 2-core @ 3.2, Radeon 4670.
