What on earth ?

How the heck did this crap get uploaded. THIS is the reason that I don't upload most of my crap to the DLS(that and my tower refuses to update itself, even if I throw an obsolete table onto it.)


Seriously, MSPaint textures of "poo," sand that looks horrible, and something the guy drew in MS paint of 2 faces, as well as whatever the hell is on those reskins, should not have been uploaded, let alone approved.

This is why it is impossible to sort through all of the crap items on the DLS to find the good ones, unless you know exactly what you are looking for by author, kuid number, or exact name.
 
Looks to me like some kid has got hold of a copy of Trainz probably belonging to someone else. Nearly a year since first registration, no activity and then these bizarre uploads appearing? Probably thinks he / she is being clever with an atrocious failed attempt at what I can only presume is meant to be childish humour?
I can, as most forgive, overlook and ignore the occasional misuse or bad upload however this seems to be the start of an ongoing onslaught.
I would think something needs doing as it will do nothing to enhance Aurans reputation to new users if they find junk like that in the latest downloads.

I'm guessing the validation process only checks for the required files in the correct format and there is no human involvement in actually viewing the asset or checking for unsuitable names which probably explains how garbage like this can get through.

At Paul502, I believe that Auran hardly check uploads on the download station (DLS). While some items may need a patch at Train-sim.coms checks they do at least check EVERY uploaded item. It doesn't matter how many staff Auran have, every item must be checked. You would not build a house, or better still, a real railway without first testing every piece to make sure it works. And then if errors are found, fixed before available for use.

And yes I agree he (or she) needs to be banned from uploading, and his content removed as soon as possible.

And to that troll, it is copyright, without the "w" and Mario starts with a capital "M".

While this person may have uploaded Mario stuff to Auran's download station themselves, it is still Auran's responsibility for allowing it to be shown (or in case uploaded).

Well proves its true that you can load any odd bit of Cr@p on to the dls.

Just the other day I down loaded a plant item called grass only to go and use it on my Route to find out it was in fact Grass, as in Reffer, Mary Jane, Marijuana what ever you want to call it.

Oh boy if that went to the DLS on my route would I ever feel like a total dope

If trainzamtrakfan is right, it is yet another reason why the staff at Auran needs to check every item, and how do we know this virus (or whatever you want to call it) hasn't affected any other uploads?

I'm also suggesting that Auran put a warning announcement in (so it is seen easily) about these items, if Trainzamtrackfan is correct.

Scanned the "poo" texture with "Norton" and "AGV" and it came up safe on 2 computers. Don't know about the rest. But some thing needs to be done about the rate of uploads from this guy/gal. Especially when our great creators are finding it difficult to upload their creations. Who wants to download a part finished route that looks as though a 5 yr old could have done better.
 
I think the Wii character "Evilangry" or whatever is a clue that this is some one who is getting some kind of revenge on Auran or us lovely folks on the forums. But then again, seeing some of the other fine assets he has created, maybe he is just 7 years old, in which case I could be amused by pinkeye chicenpox1, which I'm not... entirely.
 
Is everybody forgetting that the DLS is a "free" upload facility without rules for "quality"? When you start to go down the slippery slope of what is "good" or "rubbish" in terms of quality we have another debate on our hands which will turn out VERY ugly.

Beauty and usability is in the eye of the beholder and not up to any single or group of forum users who find an object "rubbish". The DLS is clear about what can and can't be uploaded.

Remember: you don't HAVE to download it ... but somebody else was perhaps just waiting for this one stinking texture. ;)
 
when I think of all the fuss when "lamppost Linda" was uploaded ( which is now a hidden asset on the DLS by the way) I cannot for the life of me understand how this rubbish got on.

Get it sorted Auran or this is the thin end of the wedge.

Unfortunately there are many in the train sim world that like to deride the Trainz series. This clowns trash will just reinforce their opinion that Trainz is a joke. There are many creators that spend months on free quality content, & this rubbish is an affront to their hard work.
 
I am far more interested in the excellent content that is flooding out now by many fine creators than the 'jokes' of one 'contributor'.
 
I'll ignore the "work" of this idiot. It's easy to do that given all of the other fine quality assets we have up on the DLS created by the many talented creators we have in the community.
