Importing .cdp File / Large Quantities of Content //// Resolving Missing Dependincies

Two questions I'm hoping the more knowledgeable folks here can help with:

1. Moving large quantities of content downloaded from the DLS from old computer to new. I have a fair amount (~40Gb) of DLS content to move from my old computer to my new one and for some reason, there's a bug in the .cdp system which seems to cause it to fail reading anything larger than about 1.5 Gb; what is the best way to move the content from one machine to the other?

2. Missing Dependencies: Is there any facility within the Trainz software to quickly determine what the missing dependency(ies) is/are and resolve them?

Which version of the software is this about (since you didn't post it in a version related forum)?

Assuming it is one of the more recent versions:

1: Copy the folder that contains the assets and point your new install towards this new asset database folder. Think you need to update an ini file somewhere (but I am sure someone with more experience will jump this topic soon and tell you which one).

2: A database repair usually fixes a lot of issues, assuming you moved everything from machine A to machine B. Or I am misunderstanding your question.

The instructions for moving content are fine and works. But remember I am trying to move that content to an external drive, that will plug into another computer, and will have a different drive letter.

So on the second computer create the data folder on the external drive going through all the steps. Assuming you're running the same version of trainz overwrite this folder with the contents of the first local data folder. Then you should be good to go. The other technique is to create .cdps on the first system and import them into the second one.

On your Trainz launcher, go to Trainz Settings, then the Install tab. You will see the path to the current data folder. Click the button that says "Instructions for moving your content". Follow those instructions and pay note to the second bullet in step 3. You will change that current path you see to the new path once you have copied your data folder over.

Since both machines are on the network, share the drive on your new machine where Trainz is installed.

You will need to turn on file and print sharing. In Windows 11, click on Settings and Networks. Click on Advanced sharing on the left and then check the boxes.
Select the drive where your Trainz data is located.
Right-click on the drive and choose properties...
Click on the Sharing tab.
Click below on Advanced Sharing...
Click on Share this folder.
You can change the name, or keep the default which is the drive name.
Under Permissions, you can use Everyone and check Full Access.

There are more secure settings but for this, it isn't necessary and sharing can be turned off later.

On your old machine copy the following Trainz data folders from your Trainz user data (build xxxxxxx folder) one at a time:

Local
original

and paste them into your current Trainz data folder on your new machine.

Skip over any existing content when prompted. This will save you from wasting time copying over existing files and risk overwriting newer versions.

When everything is complete, start up Trainz.
At the Launcher, click Developer on the menu, and choose Rebuild Database.

What this does is integrate all your "old" data into your existing database.

I use this process to transfer content all the time between my main Trainz install to my laptop and to my test folder.
