Yes, it is. So is arrogance, because whenever you enter a forum, you prove yourself to be arrogant time and again and it's pretty obvious most people here if not everybody realizes it. The kicker is, if you knew at all what you were doing, you could give people advice within certain parameters rather than buy the most expensive toy available.
Nope, I just base my recommendations on what I know from experience works, not recommendations for others based solely on my budget.
Sorry but if you run all the settings in Trainz at max, at high resolution with decent image quality along with a healthy dose of A.I. on a detailed route, yes you are going need some very good hardware to run it. That is unless you’re satisfied with slide show performance.

box used to be quite bad, but I built this one on a very tight budget & it works.
Regarding the Windows Experience Index, my current machine gets 7.3 for every component except "Disk Transfer Rate" which is 5.9. Since my "C" Drive is a 10,000 RPM Velociraptor I was a bit suprised so I did a bit of Searching on computers and one guy said "The only way you can get more than 5.9 on DTT is to use a Solid State Hard Drive" which seems a bit of a bummer?

Nor do I. I'm guessing some people just aren't tweaking their machines properly.

XP runs well, better than Win7 or Vista according to some tests, probably due to less overhead. It's not like Trainz uses DX11...
But, yeah, Compaq's do suck performance-wise, but really all OEMs do IMO. They're durable, at least. I have some old ones from 1998 and older I use for DOS gaming and hardware tinkering.

Last week I upgraded from a core2duo E6300 to a Sandy Bridge 2500K which I have overclocked to 4.6Ghz combined with a GTX460, 4GB DDR3.

If you can’t wait for LGA 2011 (the 1366/X58 "performance" replacement) then yes Sandy Bridge (LGA 1155/P67 chipset) is the way to go right now, and being Intel’s “mainstream” platform it’s also very affordable.
How about some screen shots of one of the detailed default routes in TS2010 so we can see what kind of performance you’re getting?

Hi all...new user here. Started out with MSTS and gave it up when Microsoft stopped supporting it. Picked up again with TS 2010 EE. Here are my specs...

After not playing it for a good portion of a year or so, I'm currently installing Trainz 2010 once again.
Old System Specs:

The new system gets a Win7 score of 5.0 (Aero Graphics), whilst the other marks are 5.3 (CPU), 5.4 (RAM), 5.8 (gaming graphics) and 5.4 (hard drive).
I'll also eventually change from 7Ent to 7Pro (again, 64-bit) by the time the 90-day trial is up, maybe having even gotten a new board and CPU for the system by then as well.
Also, for those wondering, the 745 cost me under $400 AUD ~SHIPPED~ from Zazz.com.au as Factory Refurbish, on one of the 2-3 monthly rotations when they put up factory refurbished systems at fairly decent prices (usually with a choice of Linux or Windows for each system).

If your eyes were as fast as my computer, you would notice I only run TRS2004 (which has been posted on this forum to be heavier than TS2010, due to it's errors & crude programming), I don't own TS2010, so your request is impossible.
