What do you love about Trainz?

Trainz wonderful Trainz, how could we live without it.

What do I love about Trainz? Pretty much everything.

I can build massive routes without having to spend massive amounts of money to do so.

I can drive trains across the plains for hours on end without the paranoia police hitting me about the head with a telephone book for doing so.

When it's raining outside (thusly preventing me going out railfanning), I can just set myself up in driver to sit on a platform at a station and just watch the trains run by.

I can drive a Ukrainian diesel locomotive on a German route with American coal hoppers.

I can drive stuff on so many different routes from all corners of the earth.

I have a massive selection of nearly 100000 different items on the DLS, and thousands elsewhere to satisfy whatever needs I might have.

I can meet lots of people whom I would otherwise never know by means of this forum.

I don't have to worry about the incredibly brain-twisting procedures for installing content like on other sims, much less getting those sims to work.

I can (very) indirectly influence the making and development of future versions of the game.

To sum it up: I love the variety, no other sim has so much from so many for so little. I oughta send the Brew Crew a case of some local lager...

Trainz n Trainz Hey
I love Trainz because it gives me an excuse why I did not do my home work
You can build routes without a limit of how much content or track you use.
You can download from a endless list of items From trainz to spaceships!
You can make the biggest hills you want
You never run out of track
you never run out of trainz
you never run out of content
you can build anything like a route where phones run on steel poles and trains are happy faces and people are kinetic energy!
(Little Random)
Trainz finds my inner geekeness and uses it to make great routes!
You can make your own content and import it into trainz
You can make a world a perfect world~

That’s why I love Trainz

And if I was to rate it I would give it a 1000/10 (?)

Trainz gets my stamp of approval

~M~

Thats why I love Trainz!;)

hmmm why do i love trainz??? because it has nice british locomotives & good sounds of the rails & weeles clanking together :D

What compells me to hop onto Trainz evryday is the freedom it gives you, especially in routebuilding and also all of the content available to make it more to your liking.

I like just about everything with Trainz, the eaze of using surveyor mainly for modifying routes for personal touch but my main enjoyment is as a Driver running a choice of freight trains with 15 AI's as passing traffic and over multiple sessions. BUT

I am becomming very frustrated with every saved session I make being unuseable due to the following bugs/problems;

1)Consists split; split, stacked and derailed; static long consists split in numerous places including double headed locos and static locos sitting in depots. These cant be recoupled as they just bounce of each other, the only answer is to delete the session and start again. This has been happening since TRS2006.

2) AI's stopped on open track or in a platform/passing loop not changing trailing points, with clear blocks ahead, suffering from Alzheimers(loss of memory as to schedule). Fix is to change points manually or to use 'Autopilot'-activate for short distance than reinstate schedule.

3)AI's running aimlessly, not following shown driver schedule suffering from Dementia. Only fix is to manually stop and drive back restart schedule position.

4)Headlight coranas don't light up in day or night, but show track lighted at night. This changes when consist reverses, then coronas work.

5)Helper icon rule when set to 50% in original session, reverts to default from saved session.

6)Junction Normal only works in origainal session.
I would seriously like the Auran gurus to fix these bugs/problems so that saved session work correctly when opened as they are an integral part of being a Driver in Trainz and I and many others would like to be able to run multiple saved sessions from an original session. Surely there are other uses having similar problems. The previous bug fromTC1/2 with the speed problem around station trigger appears to have been fixed.
I should be able to open a saved session and continue on without having to spend a lot off time sorting out as indicated above, this takes an enormous amount of enjoyment our of what should a great Trainz experience.

Yesterday I ran a session for three quarters of an hour, saved and came back later, opened was hit with three driver icons with red !, and found that the three were LOST and it manually took an hour + to get back on course, then to find six more up the driver list(15 AI's), two were in conflict at a junction(easy to sort out) but the other four were in pairs of two with the front one on open track at green lights suffering from lost memories as to what to do( I used 'Autopilot -activate' to start them off again). I spent this whole session JUST getting things back to a useable session. I should not have to do this.
It appears that all the emphasis is on new versions but not making sure the whole simulator works for everyone, especially those that prefer to drive.
:(

It has to be Surveyor :) It is so easy to use. And, for the most part it is very intuitive.

Also, the industry abilities. I don't believe that any other train sim out there has the capability that Trainz does.

The availability of so many user created assets. It's just mind boggeling the amount of items on the DLS.
..........And, finally it is the community that we have built here. The amount of helpful and friendly folks that we have here is most impressive.

That's why I love Trainz :)
I would agree with you 100%, but in my eyes, the support from the Trainz Community comes first. I love the "game" and "play value" of Microsoft Train Simulator and Flight Simulator, but the communities over there are just not the same.

Here, I am working on a labour of love - Dr Beeching's Withered Arm, the former LSWR lines in the West of England. When I wanted to run the "Devon Belle" pullman service, Jetstreamsky scripted his West Country locos to display the headboard for me and Magandy kindly built me an Observation Car.

Got a problem with some contentor something in surveyor niggling you? Post a description of your difficulty on the Forum and within a few hours, there's an answer.

Need a new rule? Post on the forum and someone will soon tell you if it can or can't be done!

Trainz wins every time! Other games just don't cut the mustard!

Trainz IRC Chatroom, Because its independant of that bug filled game we all love... And i dont need to run the game just to say hello to fellow Trainzor friends.

R.I.P

I love operating realistic trains in a realistic setting an I also like building and operating trainz routes based on the ones I see in toy train magazines such as Model Railroader and Classic Toy Trains.

I also like crashing big, long, heavy, trains.

(sometimes that is)

Surveyor is so utterly absorbing I hardly ever get round to using Driver!! I enjoy creating railroads through randomly generated terrain - max gradient 2%, minimal tunnelling- can be quite a challenge.

Has to be surveyor...

Hello all just one of the many lurkers who are out here lol but I have to chime in when asked. I think that many would agree that anyone that has trainz also has any other train sim that comes out...just the nature of the beast lol we have to be sure and so far its hands down that trainz is in first place...you have them all beat with your surveyor and the reason that I keep sticking around is the fact that it seems to keep getting better and my ultimate dream is to be able to have virual train clubs...come on multiplayer...thanks and sorry for the long post but always ready to encourage the trainz team to keep going. Actually I really thought trainz was dead...so so happy to see you have resurrected yourselves...:-) And lastly yes what they said...it has to be the real sense of community...just like family a lot of arguing, teasing but in the end just a good bunch of people...Just build it Auran and we will come *smiles* Thanks again

I like the forum most, I dont play the game really, but have been playing Pro Evolution, Battlefield and Call of Duty instead. But the forum is really good, and the fact that you can share the disc with all your friends and family and they can play it. I always take trainz to my friends houses and install it on their computer for them. It's great. So many of my friends and family now have trs2006 and TC3 on their pc's or laptops, Thanks trainz team. I really like using 3dsmax to make stuff for trainz but it is so time consuming and takes a lot of brainpower and patience.

Love Bernie
