What do you love about Trainz?

Haven't we been here before?

Very recently?

Oh well.
What I love about Trainz is that you don't have to take part in incessant bloody polls. lol :hehe:

Although the built-in browser in TRS2009 probably means that we're not even safe from them then.

Smiley.

The Virtual Limitlessness

I've said this from the moment I started with Trainz; it allows (me) the opportunity to build the model railroad layout of my imagination WITHOUT the limitations of MONEY and SPACE. The only factor remaining is TIME, and time is now completely enjoyable without the previous restrictions.

What I like about Trainz is the realism that can be created with Surveyor from the huge amount of free content available.
The other great thing is that I can build the biggest layout possible without the need of room or worry of cost. If I tire of a layout I can hit the delete button and start again, cant do that easily with a normal layout.
It was great day when I came across Trainz 3.1 in a bargain box at a game store.

-real world with trains or a modelrailroad-world <- for me - the user can make it real.
-it is the one and only programm since 1999 that is easy to manage and user friendly. Only Trainz. Not the newest programms from other firms are so good. (for example RS)
-As MS User i would say it is so friendly like Windows. As Linux-User I would say it is so friendly like Ubuntu with GNOME-Desktop.
-functions are unlimited
-support from Auran is realy better (SPs and Updates for the programm)
-I like all from Trainz: the surveyor mode, the driver mode, the collect mode. All are very good ideas.
The Downloadstation lift it over all other programms today, that make Trainz to the diamant of all Train-Games.

I like trainz because of the amount of things that you can do in both driver and surveyor with aid of the Download station, some content creation software, ccp and CMP.

Example:One minute you can be the signal box switching junctions for high speed trains. The next you could be performing the shunting duties in a yard.:D:p

The trainz community is great too. They're nice to talk to, friendly and always glad to help.

Train dispatching

I like to run a route such as TPR's Clinchfield as a complete railroad system, which means running multiple trains simultaneously and tracking their progress on the route to plan meets and schedules. This is hard to do currently with Trainz because there is no way to display train locations on one screen. You must scroll around in Minimap to find the trains.

I saw a block diagram similar to a dispatcher console in the background of one of the TRS2009 announcement pages. I hope this means that all trains on a route can be displayed on a single screen like the block diagram of a Dispatcher Console and signals and switches be controlled from there.

Haven't we been here before? Very recently? Smiley.

 Nah...the previous thread was a poll and limited to 25 words...

I would like the Map View in Driver or a TrainDispatcher type track schematic availible to a second monitor.

I really enjoy how user-friendly it is. MSTS is great and I do enjoy it but it gets old after a while.. very linear.

In Trainz, things are easy to modify to suit my needs.

I love trainz because it is sooooo much more flexible than other train sims in the way that just 'anyone' can use it, even if you are rubbish at driving!

Driver: In other train sims, you just get cab mode. I tried to drive a 9F on to a turntable yesterday and couldn't - no, I'm quite good at steam cab. I use it all the time.

Railyard: This is sooo cool! In things like MSTS you can't drool over all your lovely things and rule out your favourites.

Gets better: Instead of MSTS and Kuju rail sim, you don't have to pay to get excellent content. And you don't get bored of it as fast as MSTS (which I think is rubbish - tried to create route, couldn't. All these boxes. Do they think we're all surveyors or something?)

Surveryor: Best route creation software ever. Drag and drop track and add scenery in 1 click! No windows that you can screw your route up with either!

I've been addicted since nov 01. Surveyor is very easy to use, Driver is fun as well. Also, looks good on my car.

What I like about Trainz

The fact that you can adjust how disable auto laying of trackage, so the turnouts show up without switch levers, then you can add in 3rd party, PRR type switch levers, and position light signals. And you can type in the trainzoptions.txt: -enablerailjointsound and the railsounds are better.

What is it that makes Trainz special? What are the benefits that Trainz has over other products or hobbies? What do you tell your friends about Trainz to encourage them to try it out?

I love Trainz, because it's realistic. Many of the layouts from around the world have been created so wonderfully well, that you feel as though you are standing beside the track, actually train-spotting......:hehe: As more realistic content has been generated over these last few years, by a universal Trainz creation team, from brilliant scenery items to authentic locomotive engine sounds and the ability to load and unload rolling stock at multiple industries and passenger stations, at times appears to be so true to real life railways. IMHO no other sim can possibly give to me what Trainz does, it's just sheer enjoyment, every time I log on, and there's always something new to play with.

Just had another treatment and the eyes are not focusing correctly, therefore, I did not read all of the previous posts here and just jumped in to tell - Why I love Trainz:

Trainz is a community - it allows us to share ideas and opinions and allows us to build friendships across the globe.

Trainz is a total environment - it allows us to build our favorite routes, add our favorite rolling stock and engines and then drive or watch the action.

Trainz is expandable - it allows us to install creations from others

and last but not least - it allows us, through the use of tools such as gmax and paintshop, to implement our own creations be it buildings, locomotives, rolling stock, signals or what have you.

Truely the greatest product known to this old man!

Have fun!

Love of Trainz

:D Conquering the challenges the brew crew throws at us with each new version. Surveyor and Industries are my love in Trainz that keep me young. Not so Lost anymore...:udrool:

For me,it's the texture tool and the varying ability of how that texture is applied, fine or coarse, and which direction it's applied in.

Trainz is so easy to use as with the tools,no nonsense editing on the fly.

Realistic scenes can be obtained with ease, even for the beginner.

Thousands of quality addons via the DLS,one click, installed.

Forums,if you don't know how to do something, somebody else does.

A vast quantity of addons always in the pipeline.

Trainz should carry an addiction warning printed on the box, because you know once youv'e tried it,theres no turning back.:)

Each version of Trainz is better than the last, and even though TC3 has its faults it is the best version so far.Another 10 years and it will be possible to have near-photographic realism.
