What do you love about Trainz?

At this point in time, NOTHING!! I have read the manual, tried getting answers in the forums. Still can't get it to do what I want it too. I tried the so called helpdesk and that is like talking to a wall.

That deck of cards is looking better all the time!

What are the issues Rusty? I think there is more than enough knowledge here to help you out. I Love trainz myself. Whats not to love if your a train fan really. I would agree the learning is the hardest part but after that the game ROCKS!!!

I have Kuju Rail Simulator along with Trainz, and there are alot of problems with KRS. For example:
There are no good freeware downloads for it.

Installing would not be as simple as it is using CMP.

Building track is impossible, I have been trying for months to make a circle of track join up! I gave up a while ago.

There are only TWO steam locos in the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whistles sound worse than someone dragging their fingernails across a blackboard, like in movies!!!!!!!

So, in conclusion, this is my rating of KRS: :n: :n:

And my rating of Trainz: :Y: :Y:

Hello tardis626,

I very rarely namecheck my forum friends, for the main reason I always forget some one who has helped me in the past, and no doubt I have done that here again today, I have made so many great friends on here, and I do understand every question cannot be answered for one reason or another, but most of my questions have been answered, and resulted in a fully working computer and trainz program, and yes from time to time we get into heated conversations but as long as they are kept friendly, then the arguments become quite interesting and sometimes amusing with added quirky comments from Sourdough from time to time.

I am glad that I came across Train, initially TRS04, a few years back now. Unlike other sims I not being techy minded found I was able to build things without being a Teflon head. In addition I had some good folk here who produced the rolling stock I was looking for in my two pet projects - a whole city tramway and a whole railway company system presently doing.

Often I will bash away for hours building then go into tired mode and leave it for days then go back on the cycle. My only negative vibe is that I cannot keep away from it. On my poor health days when I am stuck in it keeps the grey cells ticking over. Going to ask my doctor if there is treatment for Trainz loss when I am away from home......

1.Surveyor ease of use unmatched by any other Trainsim program.

2.Advanced AI Train capability unmatched by any other Trainsim program.

3.Endless possibilities in building ,driving,or just watching the AI do its thing.

4.Vast content to chose from unmatched by any other Trainsim program.

5.Content Manager gives great control over content and manipulating it.

6.Userfriendly DRM no draconian restrictions.

Keep up the good work Auran.

Thanks for all the fun I've had sofar.;)

I love Trainz because it's kind of like my very own HUGE model railroad.
Don't get me wrong, it is realistic enough to immerse yourself into a real-life, working railroad. I've always wanted my own layout, but it's just far too expensive (Maybe I should've used the $3,000+ I spent on my PC to....NM:o ).

Just about everything.

The KUIDs jingle in the insane mind of the content creator as it play the most intoxicating tune in the world that will draw the attention and please the senses to the point of love... Yes, I was listening to "Cracklin' Rosie" by Neil Diamond.

Cheers,
Joshua

As with everyone, surveyor wins, hands down! Even though i suck when it comes to creating even a semi-realistic landscape.

Matt.

One of my short term silly regrets in life is that I did not get Trainz in 2006 when I found the demo on a gaming magazine disk. Since I got Trainz some months ago I have spend more time with it than I did with any other game in a long time. I suppose I am here mostly for nostalgic reasons, somehow Trainz remind me of old times and good friends gone by. It makes me remember how we use to build model railroads with twicks and stones from my mothers garden, painted eggshells for grass and soil and old cans and cardboard boxes for buildings (that is maybe why I do not mind the graphics so much). This forum is also a very nice place to be.

Trainz (now TS2010_SP3) keeps me from becoming too depressed.
The variety of tasks; Surveyor, Driver, AI, scripting, keeps my mind occupied, thus feeling OK.

I love trains, and the technical aspects such as crossings and signals. I love it that Trainz lets us have pretty much prototypical operation in this area.

Where I would like to see improvements is of course the quality of the "world" and better performance in complex routes.

Since this is a thread about what we love about Trainz, I'll stay away from the critical issues.

I just love spending hours working, playing, and dreaming Trainz!
It is by far the most enjoyable game I ever play on my PC.
