What do the different monetary tiers actually do...?

Hi,

I currently have Trainz Plus 2022, thus i pay a monthly subscription on top of the purchase of the game, an someone please explain what that actually provides?

What i am looking for is hosting a editable route online~(MPS?), which as far as i know, is not available, so what i am paying the subscription for, if i have payed for the game itself?

Regards,

Geckopow

The subscription also gives you upgrades with new features - not just SPs (Service Packs) which everyone gets and provide mostly bug fixes.

Surveyor 2.0 (S20), new camera views, more texturing tools, were some of the new features that were provided in the initial release. These are only available to subscribers. More will follow at regular intervals.

I was not clear, the disticntion between the Tiers...

Sorry I was not clear. The distinction between Retail (Steam), Plus, Silver and Gold. They all have different levels of payment (effectively), i purchased Trainz 2022 and paid for Plus to upload routes to a Server (thus monthly subs), yet this is not available...? I really need to know what i actually get from the different tiers....

Regards,
Geckopow

I have the annual Gold subscription. This gives me access to the Trainz vault and a selection of free DLC items plus other benefits.

If you click on the MyTrainz link at the top of this page and then My Memberships under the Profile list on the left, you will get a description of your entitlements.

The Purchase TRS22 Link at https://store.trainzportal.com/pages/trainz-railroad-simulator-2022 (scroll down the page) will list the differences between the tiers.

I gather that the Silver class is for those who already have TRS22 so they get the other benefits but the price does not include the purchase of TRS22 - but I could be wrong there.

Yeah, this is my point, do i need a monthly sub, if i stop the monthly sub, what do i lose? Effectively going back to retail (i dont need premium DLC as i create routes, this would cause an issue naturally, with routes i release on DLS. Can i even release my routes on DLS..?). What about Multiplayer, what is going on there? MPS was available to people with Plusz, do i have that facility, as apparently i do not...? (The idea behind subscription is to help maintain costs for something like servers, if i cant use their servers to host my routes, then i see no need to subscribe!?)

So lost and confused, really bad communications on what people get, i bought the full game, so i expect access to the full game through the trainz portal and currently on the Plusz!

Someone let me know...

Update:

My Discord members and other channels are on hold just now, as most are TR2021 and TSW2 folks, so they have a large collection of addons, so until i we get some more info on this, i cant really put forward an argument to change sims, and i really hate the devs at DTG, ripoff merchants... lol...

So we shall see...

Like you, I bought the full game (TRS19 Platinum in my case) and then went onto the Trainz Plus subscription, monthly at first. Then I switched to the yearly subscription, then I went "Gold".

If I stop the subscription then my install will revert to the last retail purchase, which for me would be TRS19 Platinum. Since I took out the yearly subscription when there was an offer to take up the yearly subscription before a set date (Jan 15th 2022 IIRC) then I would have TRS22 to keep, even if I stopped the subscription. So I guess that I would have TRS22.

I am not a big user of DLC but I have downloaded some items using my Gold membership access to free DLC and the "Vault" (more free content) and I have also opted to pay for other items that I could have for free to support Oleg and Ukraine. If I stop the subscription then I will probably (most likely) lose those free DLCs that I received but not the paid DLCs.

As to the question of what tier represents "value" - there is no universal answer. It depends on what is important to you, with your individual needs and circumstances. There have been several threads on this question with some "heated" discussions. I am constantly amused by some posters who have, to use a metaphor, paid for the economy class ticket from London to New York on Virgin Atlantic and expect to be given a free upgrade to Etihad first class - for life!

My main reasons for taking up the subscription and going Gold are access to the new features in Trainz Plus and to support N3V.

I don't use TR2021, TSW2 or any other rail sims, and have no interest in switching.

My thoughts.

In short
- Plus gives you the latest software/app updates and beta releases (TRS22)
- Silver gives you access to all the DLC (payware). (You must own or buy TRS22 separately).
- Gold gives you both of the above.

Stop any of the 3 and the features are no longer available and content dissappears.

May I add that Silver does not give you the latest beta builds that Trainz+ or Gold gets you.

geckopow -

If you have Trainz Plus, MPS/Multiplayer Surveyor should be available to you, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't used this feature myself, so I don't know how it works, but I was under the impression it was available to all Plus and Gold members.

Additionally, if you are a Trainz Plus subscriber, you did not need to purchase TRS2022. So long as you are subscribed, you will have access to the game.

Correct.

Correct again.

One thing that confused me (and probably others) for quite a while was the labeling on the Launcher and its top menu bar. My Trainz Launcher window says very clearly Trainz+ but the top window bar says Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 Launcher and this also appears (without the word "Launcher") on the game window when used in windowed, not full screen, mode. Did I have Trainz Plus or TRS22?

When you have the Trainz Plus subscription you automatically get the latest Trainz retail release (currently TRS22) with all the added Trainz Plus features (S20, new cameras, new texturing tools, etc). When TRS25 is released (for example), you will automatically get TRS25 with all the added Plus extras, those that currently exist and the new ones that will have appeared by then. It took me a little while to figure that out.

Hiya everyone. Total noob here. Posting a reply to this thread seemed like a better idea than opening another new thread and possibly getting yelled at :)

i have a gold annual sub, and I like switching and loading /unloading / building consists ... I was under the assumption (probably wrong?) that the gold membership gave me access to paid DLC content.......There is a bunch of models/sessions that interest me - if I click on the item in the in game browser- i get PURCHASE - US$ blahblah ...if i click that - it says "PURCHASED" but there is no download link.

I guess i am confuscated about the UIUX of this thing - if I want a scenario I can't buy it, nor do I have access to it?

sorry for the nubness. the stuff I like to do seems pretty limited to just kickstarter FS22 map really, which is neat and all i guess but that won't keep me going forever.

On the main opening "Launcher" window click "Content Store" - At top right corner click on "Purchased" - All content available to you should show there. In the case of Gold it's a lot of Routes, Loco's, and such.

Once in a while you also need to check your "myTrainz" web page on your web account. See "myTrainz" link in blue links at top of page. On that page check "content Vault" and click on items you want. They then show up in your Store also. Note that "Content Vault" is going away some time "soon"... everything will show in Store by default.

After you install it will also show in Content manager. You can see all files associated with the download by by view Content Manager by date. I download one item at a time and leave time in between. This way content from different packages won't be mixed in date due to simitaneous downloads.
