What a rip off! Unbelievable....

Well done!

I was about to write a final comment. However, after reading so many supporting messages as well as some criticism which I really appreciate both, I decided to give it another try. With such a wonderful people around here I can't run away from my beloved trains.
Perhaps not tonight, in a week or so I will try again.
Many thanks from the bottom of my heart, fellow trainz crazy guys! :)

A big well done. That's the attitide, don't let a program beat you. When I got TC3 it nearly drove me bonkers and I took it off my PC. But then I thought 'To hell with it, I know it does work because others run it and I won't let it beat me'.
So with help from a few people and one in particular who was so very very patient with a dumb blonde, he explained how CMP worked and eventually it ran.
I was elated ( a really nice feeling when a plan comes together!) and promptly bought 2006.
Didn't go for 2009 but I may get 2010, even if it won't be my main Trainz prog it will be fun to see the trees grow!
I stick with 2004 for my route creation because it allows more folk to access, download and use them, but it doesn't mean I don't like the others.

So you have taken a step back. Very sensible. You have a lot of helpful advice and well-meaning forum members right here to lend a hand when you feel ready to retry.

This is a really good forum, as you have found. Some might be a bit sarcastic at times, a little impatient, but don't let that worry you because the main flow is help, help, help and more help, and that's what we all need at times.
I needed it and I have been running Trainz since Trainz (the original).

Umm Angelah. I've been an avid reader of your posts for a long time and nowhere do I get the impression that you are a dumb blond. Don't derail yourself, great lady. You are an inspiration to all. Just move up to 2010 and you will be complete. Oh. Don't forget to update ypur drivers and G card.

You may not be aware that my previous PC went PHUT, so I have a brand new one. Hopefully it has the latest drivers and also has plenty of power too. But thanks for your advice, appreciated.
I am pretty dumb at times, I won't go into when but I was. But I try to go on....
If it wasn't for this great program I would be sitting staring at 4 walls, and that's no good for anybody.
I am still trying to recoup the lost data in Trainz, about half of it. I thought 2.5 Gig but it's nearer 5 to 6 Gig. A lot isn't easy to find and some seems impossible!
Oh well, it keeps my mind occupied...

May the (PC) power be with you,

Angela

Hhhm, well I don't think you look dumb - the very opposite and your pic brightens up my screen when it comes up! Next best thing to living in Glasgow.

Ripoff or not?

There seems to be a lot of opposing views here ... (this is my first post on a Trainz forum), but as with software, sometimes it works first go, sometimes it doesn't.
TRS2010: At least you all seem to have got TRS2010 installed. When i try to run setup.exe on the CD Windows tells me "setup.exe is not a win32 application". Damn i said. Tried several PC's and CD drives, still the same complaint from Windows. So it must be a dicky CD, so I can accept that. CD2 seems fine. I have raised a ticket with Auran, but still no reply (only a generated email to tell me my ticket was logged.
TRS2009: I gave up on TRS2009 because i could never (and still cant) seem to get it to work properly after importing content from older versions - yes, i updated all the drivers to latest versions, and it still didnt work properly, so I stuck with TRS2006.
So what do I think of TRAINZ? I'm beginning to think TRS2009 was a load of crap and the release was rushed, so they have expedited the release of TRS2010 - why didnt they do a major update to TRS2009 instead of asking us to purchase a "new" upgrade, ie TRS2010, from what I've seen of it there are not a lot of MAJOR differences to TRS2009!
So at the moment I'm not a Happy Chappy with TRAINZ.
Maybe when (and if) I get a replacement CD and it at least installs I might be happy !!! lol

TS2010 ATI Graphics bug, is there a solve to it?

Graphics bug i mean the following: Drawing distance doesnt work, sometimes i get blue screens underneath track, seems like graphics card cant keep up (Even though im running at between 60-100 FPS).

Computer:

Processor: I7 920, oc'd 3.6ghz
Memory: 6GB
Graphics Card: Ati Radeon 4870 1gb.

High spec machine have no problems with other modern games.

Edit: Also have SP1 Installed. and the latest drivers.

Hi All, dont come on this forum much, but was wondering what had happened to the DLS and thought I might find out here!. This thread caught my eye because Im thinking of upgrading, Im on 2004 at the moment and the issues it has Ive grown to accept, and the fact I got it 5 yrs ago and havent had to spend a dime since because all the content is free (thats brilliant isnt it??and thanks to the providers and dls etc)
What do you all think? Presumably you like it, thats the impression, although it can be a trauma. Is there THAT much improvement over 2004 to make it worthwhile..Im not interested in bendy trees..my interests would be track noises, rain not inside tunnels, timetabling, better people..they can walk etc in other games! traffic systems cars busses etc that are a bit more realistic. Have any of those issues been addressed to anyones satisfaction?

I've got an HD 5870 with an i7 860 and I think I'm getting some of this dispite having SP1 installed. So a good question - is the ATI bug really solved in TS10 yet?

Someone has made walking people, not sure where you can get them from or what versions they will work with (They may actually work in 04)

Phil
It's Neoklai (kuid:370528) stuff, but they're not on the DLS, you have to go to a website (and I've now forgotten its address!). I think they work in Trainz build 1.3 onwards.

The ATI related bug fixed by TS2010 SP1 is a problem with SpeedTrees not showing up right. That bug is apparently fixed from what I've read here. Other bugs may not be. Try making sure you have the latest driver updates and try fiddling with graphics settings inside Trainz and, if possible, via whatever utility ATI uses to set global or application specific settings.

Hi,

Personally i know you quoted somebody else but i have same problem, i have tried alot of setting variations and found no improvements :(. I also dont understand how it can be speed tree when the whole map suddenly turns blue and all graphics goes, then suddenly comes back.

I did pause it at one of these screens and it did not load for about 5 minutes, so just continued looking at the right hand side for changes in signals and stuff :S.

The Speed tree bug was only to do with displaying Speed trees, nothing else, any other problem with ATI would be another bug or I suspect something in ATI's drivers being drastically changed after 2010 was coded. maybe an older driver would be better.

In my opinion if ATI and Nvidia stopped trying to outdo each other and optimising their drivers for specific games, probably at the expense of others and concentrated on getting what they have working right first for all applications before releasing them, I suspect we wouldn't have half as many problems with buggy drivers.

Be handy if you could switch driver versions on the fly........ ;)

Hi,
I can't help your issue, but submitting tickets does not cost money, all you have to pay for is the game. No offence, but it is a logical mistake that lots of people make.
TS2010 is the newest game in the Trainz series, right?
Before I asked my aunty to get it for christmas, i looked at the TS2010 forums. Many had complaints about bugs and mishaps:eek: , so I chose TS2009, a year older, and more stable, still same great gameplay:) .
This is a common mistake in society, look at what happened to railways in general. Steam was more reliable and simpler than diesel in the early days, but diesel was newer. So they started phasing out steam with diesel, now, there are more diesels that you can poke a stick at:hehe: and steam still is simpler. They do work better now, but what gets me they chose age over reliability.

No offence, but it a common mistake in society.

i basikly did the same just not trs09 i went with the way older trs06 and 04

S&C add on for TS2010 for content. Otherwise I have some content that is better in TS2009/10 so I suspect others do too. Go mad and spend the money then Auran can fix a few more bugs.

Software doesn't work that way, TS2010 is the same code but refined so it fixed a lot of bugs in TS2009.
