Faulty session

I have came across a very frustrating problem today! After a few weeks away from Trainz over the Xmas period, I loaded up my route and session today and added a lot of signals to the route layer and a few vehicles in the session layer but the Driver Setup rule is red:

I can go into the driver setup and it all looks fine there.

Now my session is marked as Faulty in Content Manager. The Errors and Warnings are below:

- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag 'ck_1' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag '0__p_' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag '_5$__' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag '__' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag '_1' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag 'tg' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag '_s+_f_$' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE45: The tag 'r_terminal_track_three' is not permitted within a container of type 'profile'.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : WorldList::ValidateBackingStoreFiles> missing file: profile_1_0.obs
there are about 2500 similar lines to that last one and then at the end there is
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE180: Integrity check failure on profile_index.vtx. One or more route/session tiles may be missing.
- <kuid:228113:100115> : VE30: The tag 'image' in 'default' refers to a nonexistent file: 'thumbnail.jpg'.

The route itself is fine (not faulty at least). I have done a database rebuilt to no avail. I am using the latest TrainzPlus build - 133407. I checked for updates in case there was some kind of new bug but there appears to be alreadsy be thre latest.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Kind regards,

Gary

Your session is missing profile_1_0.obs from the list shown in the open for edit in explorer folder.
Try to find it from an earlier saved session and copy it over. <kuid:228113:100115> is the kuid of your session. You say you have other similar ones; your session may be missing all the profile files, or they may have become corrupted.

Many thanks for your reply Stagecoach. My last backup of the route and session on 17 Dec doesn't appear to have anything named profile_1, only _-1 (such as profile_-1_4.obs). An older backup from 1 Aug also doesn't have those, Do you have any other ideas or should I raise a ticket to N3V?

Kind regards,

Gary

Your session folder should have something like the following (taken from my session folder)
profile = DAT File
profile.lyr = LYR File
profile.not = NOT File
profile_0_0.obs = OBS File
profile_0_0.trk = TRK File
profile_0_0.vtx = VTX File
profile_0_1.obs = OBS File
profile_0_1.trk = TRK File
profile_0_1.vtx = VTX File
profile_0_2.obs = OBS File
profile_1_0.obs = OBS File ? see below.
profile_-1_0.vtx = OBS File
profile_-1_0.trk = TRK File
profile_-1_0.vtx = VTX File
- <kuid:228113:100115> : WorldList::ValidateBackingStoreFiles> missing file: profile_1_0.obs

Thanks Stagecoach. Mine is missing a lot of the TRK and VTX files compared to yours - I have mainly OBS files.

I am minded to just start again with a new session unless anyone can think of anything else. A lot of the driver commands need updating after expansion of my route anyway plus I can focus on just running a frequent passenger service in the new SW region of my map rather than the older parts. The TLR system also needs bearing in mind and I am tempted to make a seperate session set in the 2000s or 2010s instead of Network Southeast era current rolling stock.

Kind regards,

Gary

<Grumble>
I created a new session but that is not working, something very odd going on. It seems to be a in a permanent state of in pause mode without anything happening when I un-pause it. There is no sound at all. Normally if it is not paused in surveyor then I can hear sound, such as roads, station ambient noise or obviously the sound of loco engines etc but is completely silent. I have tried a different route and that works fine with the usual sound.

I will go back to the route and session backup from the 17 Dec 🤞

Kind regards,

Gary

...I managed to get the backed-up route and a fresh blank session working now but I had to use the most extreme of the Route Validation tools until it worked (Validate World ID Polarity and Compact World IDs). As I have a backup then it was a necessary evil.

That's good to hear, but unfortunately you lost your progress on your route. I hate it when that happens, but that's what backups are for.

I've never heard of those tools. Are they something new?

Hi John,

Yes, indeed, good job I had those backups.
The Route Validation tools are new to me, I was looking for any tools that may rebuild/repair the route. They can be found under the Tools menu in Surveyor and then Validate Route Data.

Kind regards,

Gary

Thanks Gary, I'll take a look for that.
