WCL2 (S2) Complete

IKB,
When you say something it has meaning, I am not offended.
I think I did explain how these came to be called WCL some time back, it is because they went west to the coast, or at least that was the intention. It's stopped at Bruton now. You can than nexus and a couple of others for that.
So you won't have to worry about WCL any more because there won't be any.
The track, well that was my ignorance of railway matters. I am not a buff so perhaps can be excused, and I did try to make it a joke rather than a criticism, just a point because it looked odd. Railway lines in my day sat on things called chairs I believe so I just expected that would continue; apparently not in this modern age.

Don't break their legs, just buy them a brain cell each, that will be one more than they have right now.

Blessings,

Angela

Hi Angela,

i am a bit abrupt at times and do not suffer fools gladly. Which i suppose in text comes across as rudeness.

Hence my explanation to your good self.

You did explain about the WCL, but i am sure the great man himself, would be very pleased with your efforts.

If he could understand the concept of "virtual railways on a computer". ;)

Anyway to let others drive you away from what you enjoy doing is a great shame.

After all it is your hobby and only you can decide if it is good enough.

Unlike payware which it is fair to criticise, freeware is a gift to all of us unable to create for ourselves.

I feel somewhat glum now as i was looking forward to your WCL heading further SW. :(

All the best,
Mike.

I think you'll find that NO one was actually named in my post and that the post wasn't directed at any one individual . There is plenty of new blood coming through to trainz at the moment and it can be scary trying to get that first screenshot up on the forums not knowing if you are going to be criticised .

It's quite easy to see from someones post count at how long they have been on the forums . If someone has a post count up in the hundreds then yes it's time to start criticising the lack of scenery etc BUT how many new comers have actually posted in the thread over the last six months .

If you want to walk away from trainz then that is your decision . I for one enjoy your routes immensely and respect the time and effort that you have put into them BUT don't use me as an excuse !!

In reply:-
It was my posts that started the disussion about bare boards and I do NOT apologise for that, it needed saying, so I said it. So it was blatantly obvious who your comment was aimed at so don't you try to make that as an excuse for poor behaviour.
I did not put a screenie up for over 2 years when I began in Trainz because I knew I was not good enough and needed to work on my interpretation of Trainz, which I did.
So again, anybody with an ounce of sense can see what a route should look like before they go slapping pictures about, there are hundreds of good examples to look at on the various screenshots threads, the excuse they are just starting does not hold true. If they were asking advice about something that might be different, they were not. The posts I mentioned were the "Look at my route' type. What route?

I am walking away because (a) I have been insulted and (b) if all the UK community wants are routes comprising bare boards to run your reskins on, then so be it, go live with the results. I can utilise my not inconsiderable anount of time expended on route creation in another direction. You started this with a sidelong bang at me, so I don't need any other excuse.
My aim was to try an improve the quality of people's work and thereby their screenshots. If you want to see what a really good route looks like go look on the Polish Screenshots thread, not a bare board in sight.
There is no excuse for bare boards anyway, a quick flick with a texture is all it takes to cover them and at least that is better than nothing.
And it isn't just noobs that do this, which dismayed me. You are falling into the same trap as a noobie and condoning shoddy work. It is very easy to get along boards quickly laying track, that is one of the joys of Trainz, but it is also obvious to the user that there is a lot more to it than that, and a hint or two from a seasoned veteran should have prompted a second look from the submitter and a bit extra effort.

In the end it all comes down to just using your eyes before sending a graphic up......

Angela

wow do you realise how elitist your post sounds ?

So are you saying all noobs should be trained for 2 years or so before they reach a standard that they can post to the thread !!

I have an eleven year old son who has uploaded a few reskins to the DLS (with my help) and who has now got to the stage (6 years of using trainz) where he wants to make his own routes (with a little help and suggestions from me) . They are getting better on a daily basis and he would love to post some of the results to the forum but he's TOO frightened to because he's worried about comments from the elitist brigade !!

He's 11 he hasn't got the will power to stare at the computer and place this tree here and that building there all day long so that it looks 5 star picture perfect . He is , as well as myself extremely proud of what he has achieved so far but that in your eyes is NOT good enough to be posted !!!

If you want a thread that's picture perfect then start one up and state that's its for Picture perfect screenshots only !!

I don't think anyone was actually named, but if the cap fits......................

I notice your very brave attacking a woman in a forum.

I haven't made any threats....................i am just telling it how i see it.

Are you sure its not you thats 11 yrs old and not your son.

Your certainly acting like a child.

Tell you what i will edit the post you are getting so worked up about, as i can see your feelings are so fragile and your easily hurt.

IKB.

Not attacking just defending my name . I was quite happy to leave my original post on the screenshot thread and carry on . But then she made it personal by naming me in her post . I have a right as much as anyone else including Angela to defend my actions .

Man or woman doesn't come into it , if you are prepared to dish out criticism then you should be prepared to receive some back !!

Oh and threatening people on here then re-editing your post now that's brave isn't it ?

I can't be arsed to argue with you, your obviously a very delicate soul.

If you go back you will see that the original post had a huge smiley after the comment ( still there to be seen in Angela`s quote ).

As for brave, if you want my full name and address PM me and i will gladly supply it.

Now go away little man and leave me in peace.

IKB.

I was wondering what could cause such a hoohaa so I read this thread and the UK screenshot one.

I would have to suggest that the solution is for all of you to grow up and act your post size/shoe size or however you choose to quantify your supposed maturity.

Message for Louise_T.

Hi Louise,
sorry I am taking so long with your Westbury-Bristol dem, but it has been a nightmare to do!!! The section between Bathampton and Bradford-on Avon has given the most trouble, as you know there is a canal running through the valley along with the river and railway. The canal even crosses on aqueducts in two places. The dem is far from accurate in these situations (heightwise) so I have ended up putting the canal in first and adjusting heights accordingly.
I have been tied up a lot caring for my invalid wife so I will do a bit more during this week and then perhaps you would like to take over?
As you live on the line you are able to see what is involved and will be able to make the necessary adjustments. Also, I am missing working on my SDJR, the track is more or less sorted and now it is putting in the scenery, John.

Hi Angelah & all,

As a 'bloke' from the colonies :) I have no idea what rolling stock might travel from Paddington to Westbury for passenger service.

I would appreciate any suggestions because it seems to me that running Canadian Pacific rolling stock is not appropriate to such a beautiful and picturesque layout. (A tip of the froobie hat to you Angela!)

Many Thanks!
cheers,
--michael. (aka froobie)
PS I'm running WCL2 in TRS2006

Modern era ie 2010. First Great Western HST (class 43) But in the 1980's class 50's with MK1/MK2 coaches as well as BR HST's, 1970's Westerns, Warships (class 52 & class 42) also with MK1/MK2 coaches. Don't know any earlier than that sorry but HTH :)

Just found this sim last night, instantly went to the top of my favorites ahead of even the ECML. are there any more you can chain to this sim yet?
I regularly play with Simsig Westbury so this is like caramel topping

Micheal you can chain off Westbury, Bristol and exeter and off Bristol you can chain Gloucster not sure of any others you can chain off them at this time.

Louise T is exactly right with what runs along the line, before the diesels were Castles and Kings, great steam engines, my favourites...;)

I chose Cholsey, as most freight and passenger traffic run along the length and stretch of the line...

Hope this helps
