WC Shotz

Downloading the WC SW1500 right now! Too bad the download speeds are less than crap through the download station. Going to have to wait for it to download, but it will be worth the wait!

I tried downloading from the download station with no luck. The download got to 99% and then stopped. This seems to happen with a lot of stuff I download from there. Any other way I can get the WC SW1500 without the pain of trying to get it through the download station since I can never seem to get anything I want off of it?

They all worked for me.....I will CDP them up for ya and send em over
Thanks! Would really appreciate it. I am putting together an activity based on the good ole WC days. Not entirely sure if what I am doing is 100% accurate, but I just want to have fun and at least be close to accuracy. I am putting together an Ashland to Wausau train activity where I pick up woodchip and pulp cars in Prentice and then when I get to Bradley I will make a stop and wait for the local to come over from Rhinelander to drop off its cars. I will then pick up those cars, head down to Tomahawk and pick up some more cars that were dropped in the yard from the mill and then head down to Wausau. Should be about a 78 car train I think when all put together.

Is there anyway to turn off the yellow light on top? If not its no biggie really. More curious if that can be done or not more than anything.

tell you what I will make some up with the beacon disabled so it wont flash if you like, it's no biggie.. just let me know.

If you can do that and its not much time or a pain then that would be awesome. I got some pics I will post here in a minute or two.

This activity I have here is based on a June summer day back in the 90's on what I witnessed in Bradley. I still remember the day very well. This may not be 100% accurate to the operations ran back in the 90's, but I am trying to be close and precise. The power used for the Ashland-Wausau train on this day was 4 WC locomotives. In these photos I am using different power until I get some WC units.

It's 10 AM in the morning here in Bradley. We are here doing some rail fanning today waiting for the Ashland-Wausau train and the local that comes over from Rhinelander.

Back over in Prentice, after getting some woodchip and pulpwood cars, the train starts to head down the wye. We will be hopping off the Ashland sub onto the Bradley sub. It was curious to see what kind of power they were using today. Up front was a CN ES44DC, but what in the heck is that second loco?

Ah ha! Interesting to see a Norfolk Southern Dash 9 unit! This was unexpected, but a nice little surprise!

Another shot of our train. The pulpwood cars we have on our train came from various spots along the Ashland sub--probably Ashland and Fifield to be exact. The box cars trailing are box cars that came off the White Pine sub. These box cars are hauling copper anodes. I believe as of today the White Pine mine is closed. I haven't heard anything about any trains on the White Pine sub for at least a year unless CN makes an occasional move to drop off and pick up pulpwood cars.

Empty hoppers at the end of the train. Just a guess, but these cars may have been loaded with ties to bring to the tie chipper in Ashland.

Back at Bradley about a half hour later or so we see our train slowing as it heads into Bradley.

The train has stopped on the main here at Bradley as it awaits for 2 things. The first it has to wait for the Rhinelander local to arrive. The Rhinelander local will be dropping off its train on the siding so the cars can go south to Wausau. The Rhinelander local will then pick up a few cars that are sitting on the far left siding to haul back to Rhinelander. The loaded pulpwood cars on the far right siding will also be added to our Wausau train. Secondly, our Wausau train will still have to hang around in Bradley for a bit longer because Tomahawk Railway (5 mile shortline that switches the mill in Tomahawk) is still switching the mill. The Tomahawk switcher will bring the cars from the mill into the yard so that these cars can also be taken south to Wausau.

Whats this rolling in? Wouldn't you know it! Its the Rhinelander local with 12 cars!

One more shot as the local is about to cross the road and into the siding.

Good pix.....Nice story....Good information ya got there.....Now ya need part 2 on finishing this run....Like the Tomahawk train, and then the run to Wausau :) Other wise its a very nice story....Well done :Y:

The West side Wausau switcher pauses here in the yard with 10 loads of roofing granules from the 3M plant as it does its air test before heading back to the Wausau yard on this cold, and yet rainy gloomy night

I will for sure do that. The cars I need to pick up are on the set out track and in the old Milwaukee Road yard that used to be in Tomahawk. At some point I plan on trying to re-do the Tomahawk yard and possibly making the Tomahawk rail trackage back to the mill. I am having an issue with trying to flatten the ground. Is there a way where you can make a hill flatten out with one click? I can make the hill go down, but can never get it to be flat. lol!

The 2nd,3rd and 4th sets will be loaded tonight.

2nd set is single stripe. 4 units
3rd set beacon disabled(no yellow flash). 2 units
4th set is CWRO (Ex-WCL) remote control cabs. 2 units

Continuing on with the story...

With the Rhinelander local on the siding, our Wausau train uncouples from its cars to get the 4 loaded pulpwood cars and the entire cut of 12 cars that the Rhinelander local brought over. Meanwhile, the WC SW1500 will wait a few minutes for this to be done because he will need room on the west side of the yard to maneuver some cars around that are sitting on the far left siding.

Next is getting the cut of 12 cars from the Rhinelander local. After this, we will bring our train forward and then back our train up on the main to couple back up to the various cars that were brought with us thus far. Then, we will have to back our train up a smidge to get the Rhinelander local some room to switch around.

After gathering a few cars to take back to Rhinelander, the WC switcher is now running around its train on the main and is now backing up onto the siding to get its cars so it can get the heck out of Bradley and back to Rhinelander. Both the engineer and conductor were anxious to leave as they both have dates tonight with some hot chics back in Rhinelander... and yes, indeed, there are some cute girls in Rhinelander! :)

On our way back to Lander with only 3 cars. The 2 box cars will get shoved back to the mill and the tanker will go on the short siding on the east side of the mill. I will have to create the Rhinelander route one of these days once I learn more so I can actually do this!

After all that, our Wausau train creeps back up to its original waiting spot. We can't continue our journey south to Wausau just yet as the Tomahawk switcher is still on duty at the mill so in the meantime, the engineer and 2 conductors are on lunch. One of the conductors is a 30 year veteran and the other conductor has recently finished his training and is getting some real live action today here in the Northwoods!
