WC Shotz

A new business up in Pembine has came about.....An ethanol plant is now served by both the WC and the ELS (Fictional plant that is)

Here we see the WC local running LHF back towards Gladstone with a string of empty hoppers from the plant

L3637 heads into Pembine with adaqute power for this lil local....Todays train consists of some empty bulks that will be set out here at Pembine and a few loads of pulp logs and a few scrap loads that came from a project of a tie and rail replacement just west of here that will be picked up and taken back with them

CN L550 heads into Green Bay on the Manistique Sub near Lakeview Dr. Helping the 2108 is the 2294. Train is 68 cars today. No traffic from the Pembine line, no pipe loads, only about 12-15 coil steel loads, a few pulp loads, one woodchip load, some clay slurry tank empties, about 11 empty gons that are probably headed back to western WI for sand loading and a few other misc cars. The trail with the 2 benches on it was the ex-CNW line that ran from Green Bay-Wausau and now is the Mountain Bay Recreational Trail.

Very nice! There was a meeting in Rhinelander today that consisted of CN officials, Northwoods Rail Transit Commission and I think WisDOT was there too. From what has been said, CN wants someone else to take over the light density operations north of Wausau. It was first reported that G&W would take over who owns Tomahawk Railway, but now WATCO may be in the mix. If something were to come to fruition then the line from Goodman to Rhinelander and Prentice to Ladysmith may be opened again. This may have a positive effect on E&LS as well. From what I have read the logs in Pembine go to Minnesota. There could be a connection to where E&LS could or have the logs from Pembine shipped along the Pembine Sub and Bradley Sub over to Ladysmith to be taken to Minnesota. I hope there is some good developments that come to light in the north!

With the ore mine in Crandon pending, it would be completely moronic of the CN to get rid of everything up nort. The CTRR logs go to Ranier I do believe so it all depends where the CN would want the interchange traffic.

A late CN L551 heads north thru Marinette....Where an ELS crew waits at the depot before coming on duty to take their train west to Crivitz

WC 3004 on CN L536 at Lakeview Dr

It is June 16, 2005 and the CN has yet to wipe out the remaining Wisconsin Central power. Here GP40 3004 and an Operation Lifesaver SD45 lead a southbound L536 into Green Bay at Lakeview Drive. The crew will turn at Green Bay and take L537 north to Marinette/Menominee. At Marinette a second crew will take over and run 537 to Powers, MI where they will take a left turn to Quinnessec, MI. After picking up their traffic at Quinnessec, the crew will head back to Menominee, MI as L536 and tie up there. The new crew will work M&M land and then head to Green Bay....This L536/537 operation replaced the GB-M&M turn SL087 and through trains NEQU1T and QUNE1T (Neenah-Quinnessec; Quinnessec-Neenah).

The more I see of this layout devoted to this fallen flag that is now a part of the Canadian National, the more I miss it. Yes, I remember seeing the Wisconsin Central on a trip to Green Bay in 1997, and WC was practically all over the town. Thanks to Trainz, I can remember this now defunct railroad and drive the trains as if I were employed by the WC. So, thanks all! Thanks a lot!

Yeah I miss the WC....And as you said...Thanx to TRAINZ where one can rebuild the line and actually run the WC once again to relive all the great memories.....I am glad you like the route and pix.....Keep an eye out for more pix coming soon :Y:

CN L550 A freshly painted former Union Pacific loco waits patiently, just arriving from Michigan. Work crews have to clear up before Green Bay Yard will take this train.

Q-train 198 from western Canada rolls thru the north end of Neenah....This is the Fox River Jct where the line splits to go north to Green Bay and Shawano.....The train is enroute to intermodal facility near Markham, IL.

CN A449 is tripling his train into the yard in Green Bay as L570 with WC 1558 spots 3 loads in Warehouse 71 at Military Ave. 449 has just dropped off it's first cut. With the power this close to Military Ave they probably have another 100+ cars to shove into the north yard.

L570 with WC 585 in charge heads north out of Green Bay for the Howard Industrial Park. Box cars on the head end are from the Velp Ave. warehouses. Todays traffic for the park was seven tank cars. 570 works both the Omnova Latex plant and EK Chemicals.

I don't think CN is going to give up any of the lines, but rather lease them out to someone. Either that or the will have a clause where if any major developments happen such as a big open pit iron ore mine in Mellen that they would then take everything back, sort of what they did wit hthe Rice Lake branch and part of the Barron Sub in western Wisconsin.

This route is seriously kicking some butt! I love it! Great job on it so far. Looks like you are getting pretty far!

Thanx.....I keep adding to the dang thing as I just wanted it to go from Stiles Jct to Pembine but now I got it from Green Bay all the way to Pembine and then over to Powers on the WC/CN and Crivitz to Marinette as well....ugh...I think I will stop adding to it and just get back to the detailing it....But now that I think of it, I think I will have to push it all the way north to Channing and all the way east to Wells-Escanaba MI area now.....
