TRS 2019 SP1 keeps telling me "Wait, I'm doing something." I've got a rotating ring, all the time, in the thumbnail strip at the foot of the start page.

It does not appear to have any impact on the functioning of the game itself. There is a prompt response to every mouse click. It looks like a leftover screen setting that failed to get switched off by the program for some reason. Logging out, switching the computer off for half a day, nothing makes it disappear.

Has anyone seen this behaviour too?

I've seen this. Usually stuff is being cached.

Bring up the log and watch. You'll see a stream of stuff being validated and cached which is normal for newly added DLC and content, an EDR, and always after a service pack or patch. Once everything settles down, the content will load quickly.

Defragging your hard disk, if your data is loaded on a regular hard drive, will speed up this process tremendously. If it's on an SSD, trim the drive which is a normal process now for SSDs right within Windows 10 when you defrag. Remember even if you set your defrag to do this weekly, this only works if your machine is on at the time, otherwise the process will reschedule for another time and that can be ad infinitum if your machine is always off during the scheduled time. It's also necessary to do a manual defrag if you've done a major install such as the service pack and subsequent DBR.

Thank you for your advice, helpful as ever, John.

Most of what the log is outputting is an infinite repetition of

; <NULL> : router message from 32630 '' to 32630 '', message Animation-Event, animend
; <NULL> : Posting message from 32631 '' to 32631 '', message Animation-Event, animend with delay 0.000000

I've got my Trainz data on an SSD and the program itself on HDD. Time for some housekeeping then, defragging and trimming that is.

I'll keep you posted.
