Using Layers properly

I have been looking and not finding anything about using layers. I probably just haven't used the correct search words.

Is there a recommendation for using layers in surveyor?
Ex. Place trees and bushes in one layer
Place all track and signals in another
Place Industries in another
Place all rolling stock in another layer

I appreciate the links very much

Some were helpful some were confusing.

I think my confusion is that I have never created a meaningful route or session of my own and really gotten in depth.
This is my first try at that.
So far I have not had any of the described issues.

When I think of using layers, I think of seperating out everything.
All Track is on a Track Layer
All Trees and Bushes on another
All Trains another
and so on....
What I did not find was if this is how others are using Layers.
It seems like some are using Route and Placing Baseboards, Textures, Trees and bushes, Houses etc
Others are using some extra layers to divide up these more
it just does not seem consistant.

I will keep plugging away and see what this surveyor newbie can make up/screw up.

Hello

Download from CM3 or DLS and try this two sessions

Avery Drexel AI trains,kuid:151442:1004

ECML AI Freight and passenger, kuid 151442:1029 (or 151442:1017 )

They are the only ones which are uploading and use session layer in practice.
