Uploading a Route

Get over it
I've never uploaded anything so I have a few questions. When uploading a route should rolling stock be included? If not, then I assume that I would clone the route, delete the existing rolling stock and upload the clone. I would like to keep the rolling stock on my route because it's been configured for this route.
Where do I go to see how large the route is? I don't want to go through a lot of effort and find out it's too large. Will probably have more questions as I go through the process. Thanks.

First of all, what trainz version is this in?

Best way to find out the size of the route is to convert it into a CDP and that will tell you the size, when its saved to the PC

Bearing in mind, the DLS will only accept files up to 50 MBs

The route can be added to the DLS and the session can as well and there is no need to worry about added trains etc. as it flags what assets are needed from the route or session file and therefore the end user, if they don't have them, will need to download them.

Thanks for replying. I'm not creating a session. I have consist through out the route so that I can play with it when I'm not working on it. Should I get rid of the rolling stock?

From using Trainz Objects for 04 I know that it tells you that it is best if you remove all rolling stock before uploading to the DLS. However, it doesn't tell you that it is absolutely necessary to do so and is therefore not a great deal of help but it is all that I have to go on and therefore pass on to you. If you don't use 04 then I guess that the same applies to other versions but surely someone will give a definite answer soon?

Cheers
Russell.

Remove

I would tend to remove all stock. The downloaders will have enough to do getting all the assets and adding stock with its multitude of dependencies will only make that worse.
And the probablility is they will want to run their favourite stock anyway.

As said though, the instructions on creating a cdp and uploading are not very clear about it so it is no wonder you asked.

The methods for creating the cdp and uploading are slightly different for various versions of Trainz so it will help if you let the folk on here know which version you have created the route in.

If you look at the 100's of existing routes in Trainz (this applies to any version) you'll see that a route consists everything except the traincars (locos and rolling stock) and industry setups as applicable. Consists and industry produce/consume definitions should only be in the session(s) for the route.
