Updating Trainz Asset Database

What exactly is Trainz doing during "Updating Trainz Asset Database" ? I seem to be having an inordinate amount of "updating" going on lately. It even attempted to do an update when I was not even connected to the internet a few days ago. Is that normal? And another thing, Content Manager for TS12 has been freezing up after downloading only a couple of items. It has done this for the last few days. I have to stop it with Task Manager and when I start TS12 again...another Asset Database Update !! Anyone know of any problems with CM lately?
