Recovering a route

For some reason, attempts to restore a .tzarc file from a few days ago have almost been successful. IE have failed. I have placed the tzarc file in the current editing folder, done a database rebuild, and still have the latest and greatest version of the WIP route, which is not what I want. I attempted to merge the original route with another portion. But merging routes in this game is for rocket scientists, or folks with 300 plus IQs seemingly.

The inevitable question. Is it still doable today to restore a copy of a route from a tzarc file? Or is the route stuffed? It doesn't show in content manager at all. I did get the drives mixed up initially unfortunately. But it doesn't seem to have any effect, regardless of which drives they're on.

This is the only way unfortunately to restore a route unless you've made interim backups yourself by exporting your route to .cdp files.

How far back did you go?

Backups are kept for 7 consecutives before the earliest date-folder is deleted unless you've reduced the number of backups that can be made.

I forgot about the .cdp option. I recently noticed that the game installed on the drive I didn't prefer it to be on. So moved it to the D: drive a few hours ago. I may just have to redo the roads and add the portion I intended to with the new import. I didn't touch much of the track if anything. I'll have to try and remember to do daily exports.

That doesn't sound so bad, but still...whenever something like that occurs, I feel my stomach hit the floor while my heart stops suddenly.

I make near daily backups of routes to cdp files while I'm working on them. I learned my lesson years ago.

Backups are your friend.
