Updating my assets for TANE - where is the Create New Version command?

I am wondering how to go about creating new versions of all the stuff I have created. In TANE, most of my stuff needs to have the tga to texture fix. The thing I find missing is the "Create New Version" option in Content Manager. I tried to just upload my modified asset, but the DLS would not accept it - says that asset already exists. How should I proceed?

Open for edit in explorer; manually increase the KUID revision by 1 in the config.txt. Save and close. Drag and drop (or otherwise import) the modified asset back into CM. Revert the changes on the old (now obsolete) asset. Upload the new one.

Yesterday, I could drag and drop assets with updated kuid's into Content Manager. Today, it does not work. When I drag the file folder to the CM window, it turns into a black ring with a slash and will not drop. However, if I select Import Content Folder in the drop-down window under File in CM, then I need nine more clicks to find the file in the c:users\dapet\appdata\local\n3v\Tane\build\editing\asset. I can then do a final click to get the asset into CM. I have over 2,000 assets to fix. that comes to over 20,000 mouse clicks. I will not live long enough to get the job done using this back aswards method. Please bring back drag and drop before I expire.

I have the same drag and drop problem, I was told to start T:ANE as an administrator. Which I always did but sadly, that does not work. I still get that black circle crossed and have to manually import files with Win Explorer where that file/folder/CDP is located.

Not very user friendly, is it?

I always start my software as administrator. The thing the ticks me off is that is was working the first evening I did some work. Then, the next evening it did not work. As you say, not user friendly.

There must be something with folder rights. Whether Tane does this or something happens to windows I have no idea. I have dragged and dropped hundreds of cdp's without a single problem. I haven't looked but have either of you posted on the beta forum a bug report on this?

This issue could be to do with permissions in the administrator set up. Have a look at what boxes are ticked. The read and write boxes are not always ticked. You can look but don't touch anything sort of routine.

The lack of a single "new version" selection is hopefully an oversight but being unable to drag and drop new assets on CM is another issue, most likely something to do with permissions as has been suggested. I've been doing this constantly in CE and now in the release version as I build and refine a new asset. By not burying it in the C:\users\ ... \ appdata\ folders I have not had any drag and drop issues. All of my T:ANE folders are on another drive, my E: drive.

Make sure you are dragging the actual folder from the TS12/User Data/editing, and not trying to actually drag the open for edit asset in TS12 Content Manager. I made this mistake a few times and had myself completely confused! :)

I did a new install of the latest TANE release on my D: drive in folder Trainz-TANE. When install was complete, I opened CM as Admin and downloaded one of my assets that needs to be updated. I then opened the asset in CM using "Edit in Explorer". The asset opens nicely in D:\Trainz-TANE\editing. I then opened that folder and edited the config using ConText. I saved and closed the config file and Context, then clicking on the up arrow I am back at the asset folder in Explorer. I then click and drag it into the CM window, where the icon immediately changes to the circle with a slash.

However, now when I use CM to "Import Content Folder" it goes directly to the D:\Trainz-TANE\editing, saving me a few keystrokes, but it would sure be nice to be able to click, drag and drop.

I am using Windows 8.1. I have looked at some of the controls, but can not find anywhere that makes changes to how or to what the Admin can access things.

I'm still doing all the drag and drop in Win7. Could Win8.1 have anything to do with the failure to work as expected. I've only seen it in action briefly but does it still have the normal explorer view of the folders. I only remember see a bunch of cartoon like icon squares.
