Update failed

You would think that I would have learned by now..... Logged in and got notice of up on Trainz+. So, I tried it. Got an error! Really? Going from 123794 -> to 126280 and I am informed that there is a checksum error. Unreal. Tried it 4 times....same ending. I would have thought that after the last fiasco where it seemed like no one that one particular file on their computers (DSCV 140 or something like that) that this update would work.

What hoops do I have to jump through this time?

Exited WIN11 and back in. Tried again. Still mismatch with checksum error. It says that there is an error with msvcp140.dll. That is the problem that we had with the LAST update.....a lot of people didn't have that file in their system. We were told to go online and d-l it. Which I did, and probably many others did. And that got Trainz22 to work again. But now, the file that fixed Trainz before is breaking it now! I am so disgusted with this program. I have purchased Tr17 (which now takes a work around to run) and then 19 and then 22+. WHY can't we get an update that just works the first time???? What do I have to do now to get this program to work?

I started working with computers in 1975 on a Sperry Univac. My first PC was an 8088 that ran DOS 3. NEVER have I had SO many issues with a piece of software! NEVER!

Please understand that the ONLY thing that is run in Win11 is Trainz. EVERYTHING else is run in Linux from a separate hard drive. These upgrade errors and failures are getting ridiculous! Come on NV3.....get one right once in awhile!

Still mismatch with checksum error.
It sounds to me as if something is interrupting the data download and corrupting the data. It could be your network connection or antivirus. If you are using a VPN, use a regular connection instead.

Exclude the Trainz program folder and data folders from real-time scanning by your antivirus program and then update manually instead of directly from within the Launcher.

Navigate to the program folder.
Double-click on Patchinstaller.exe

This will bring up the same screen you see when you use the Launcher or go through the process via the Install tab in Trainz settings.

Sometimes this works better due to reasons unknown.

If you get through the update, you may or may not see the DBR running. Click on Developer and then Show Logs and you can watch the DBR process run.

Like others have reported, mine also took about 45 minutes to complete.

No good. Comes up with same error about the mscvp file. I do not have any anti0virus running. My network is rock solid with almost 1G speed. No VPN in use. Again, it is about the file that so many of us were missing on the last update and we had to go looking for it on the 'net.

Here is what I am getting: well, I was trying to insert an image from my phone, but I guess that doesn't work either on N3V or else it takes some super complicated ritual to make it work.

Anyway, I deleted all of the redistributable files and reinstalled from the Microsoft site, rebooted, and got the same crap. Here is what the picture would have said:

Patch not available.
Details:
Checksum mismatch on: C:\Program Files/N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022\msvcp140.dll (expected 9aad36ed8e5b283999387888831c166, found f50d2e2eb3a3fe18c96068af38887cef)

Just tried what Stagecoach suggested......same error.
Open a command prompt using administrator rights.

Run SFC /SCANNOW

If there's any corruption, a log file will be produced and this might fix some data corruption that's causing the problem. Note the keyword might.

After running SFC, run these two commands. You need to hit enter in between them.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

This will restore files from the file repository located in a hidden partition on your Windows drive.

You may also want to delete temporary files.

Using Explorer, Navigate to c:\users\<your profile>\AppData\local\temp.

Highlight and delete the contents.

There will be some files that are in use. Choose skip to go past those.

Once this is complete, reboot and try again.

Still no good. I don't know what software I hate most.......Win11 or Trainz. This is ridiculous.

On Tr19, I had to reinstall Trainz once and Win10 once. When I wanted to move up to Win11, I purposely bought this machine to do that thinking that I wouldn't have the issues that I had with Win10 and Tr19. Spent $3,000 US for nothing.....still problems. I am so tired of this.

If someone out there knows of a train simulator that is at least close to what I have now, please tell. I just refuse to keep reinstalling the game and the operating system. I'm too old for this crap......and paying money for it on top of that.

I looked at the log file and didn't see anything standing out there.

Something is somehow corrupted and it's not TRS22 that's stuffed. While I'm not exactly crazy about Windows 11, it runs fine here for what I use it for and it's not just for Trainz.

I ensure that my OS and drivers are always up-to-date, and perform a weekly maintenance cycle on the machine by deleting cached data, temporary files and TRIM the SSD. My regular old spinner drives where my data is located are defragged more often, with my Trainz drive defragged daily, or as much as I use Trainz.

As far as other Trainz simulators with as much ROI, I can't think of any unfortunately.

I still say that this goes back to the update where a lot of us didn't have that Msvcp140_atomic_wait.dll on our machines and had to go searching for it.

I also found that reinstalling the mscvp package does NOT install a new msvcp140_atomic_wait.dll file.....mine is still from 04-27-2024 when the last update screwed my system.
