So while downloading Leeferr's ATSF 2-10-2 I noticed that his N&W J class is now also on the DLS. It used to be on the Cumberland Trainz webpage. Did Leeferr retire these from being payware and upload them as freeware? I'm unsure of whats going on here. :o If someone could explain this I'd be grateful for any info one might have.

He retired his original CumberlandTrainz site and then uploaded some of his payware stuff, mostly scenery.

None of the stuff on the DLS that you mentioned is in the payware section of his current site, though it may have been on his old one. As far as I know, it's legit, but if you want to ask him, it's usually best to do this sort of thing via PM.

Well, keep in mind also that leeferr might have done some freeware before payware. Most payware authors cut their teeth making freeware and move on to payware once their skills are honed enough. Although, in this case, I'm sure you're right. I vaguely seem to recall N+W and ATSF stuff on his old site, as well as the Reading Crusader that's now on the DLS.

Leeferr moved to payware because of gimmie pigs pestering him about making more freeware, maybe he's going back to freeware now.

If it is uploaded with him as the creator, it is likely legitimate. I'm not aware of any way to upload content to the DLS under another person's name/KUID.

The following is a PM I received from leeferr sometime last night: "I decided to retire the J's from payware and uploaded them to the DLS. They are now freeware, so feel free to download.
Mike" It was indeed a case of payware being retired to freeware.
