Uninstalling Old DLC in TRS19.

Hello guys,

Are there any DLC packs that are recommended I should uninstall in TRS19 if I have them installed for some reason (like from upgrading from TANE?) I already got rid of the original non-PBR Orient Express pack as TRS19 adds in an updated PBR version, and considering removing the original Kickstarter County, for two examples. Thank you.

The problem is, if you uninstall DLC content, you will also uninstall assets that are needed in other routes. I've just had that issue, deleting DLC content installed only 2 days earlier (which broke ALL sessions). Deleting the offending DLC pack deleted about 80 assets that were installed a year ago, so be careful.

So far, I'm just uninstalling rolling stock packs, such as the German passenger and goods wagons from 3DZug, and their version of the USATC S160, which is originally from Steam Locomotive Works.

Question about way of deleting DLC vs only Route and Session files for DLC Content?

 Hii shebashetan7,

Hope you are doing well, haven't spoke with in quite some time..........;)

Just for Clarity here, and a Question for something I am thinking about along the same vein of thought.....When you uninstall, do you go into Trainz Launcher, then Content Store Tab where it shows the items you bought when using Trainz Launcher......And uninstall from that tab........

My thought is if one uses that tab, then it would remove Route and all Associated Content for selected Route, however, if one went into Content Manager and just deleted the Route File only and Sessions Files, wouldn't that not just delete Route and Sessions, and leave dependencies alone? Different that deleted the DLC used in Trainz Launcher?

I hope this makes sense........

When I went to do a fresh install from Standard TR2019 to Platinum Edition, I used Content Store Tab, to select only the DLC's I wanted and not all at one time to see if I had any Faulty problems with the Platinum stuff, because some of my historical DLC Purchases where not going to work under TRS-2019 edition they were TS-12 pre TANE stuff, so I didn't want the issue.......

Need your thoughts on this,,,Because this thread got me thinking about the different ways of Deleting old items......?

The data is in packages, therefore, you can't just remove the routes because everything will go with it including any associated dependencies. For Platinum and Plus uses, we can use the Content Store to uninstall the packages, or go about it the other way which is to delete the folder(s) associated with the route and then run a database repair. In all honesty, it's faster to delete the folder and run a DBR than it is to wait for the uninstall process to complete.

As noted, there are dependencies that end up getting shared with other routes such as our own and those that have been downloaded from the DLS. By deleting these routes, i.e. packages, these dependencies are removed as well. The way around this is to hide these routes from view.

 Thank you John for excellent as always advice, guess this is one Cat that can't be skinned.......So will have to live with it.........

Rather keep those DLC's than lose the Doggone Dependent Assets, Have to look for more, so why add to congestion.........:hehe:
