Undecorated rolling stock

Thai1On

Slave to my route
Is there any undecorated rolling stock (box cars, hoppers and so on) on the DLS ready to be reskinned with custom road names? Or maybe N3V could make undecorated rolling stock available?

try typing in the UNDEC in the description tab on the dls. Yes they are there. just to many too many to list. I know that there is a undec dd40 and sd40-2

Very true John but I'm wanting to reskin a wooden reefer and my Photoshop clone tool kung-fu is finding this one to be very difficult

Dave

Just saw one yesterday, I believe alphabetically, it was under 'P'! (I search one or two letters a day, yesterday was 'P' and 'Q'.)

What is the kuid?

Thanks John

Something like <kuid:67794:150009> 40ft NCC Wood Reefer with roof hatches

or

<kuid:67794:170020> Armour 40ft wood meat reefer 29019

What I want to do is remove just the name or logo and replace it with another meat company logo.

Tell me if this is the wrong technique. For the wooden reefer I simply place the clone tool above or below the logo and slowly paint over the logo. Problem is I can't keep the boards in line. Of course I guess my logo may cover it up but I'm just being picky. I like reskinning as a diversion when I tired of fixing the grades on my route to keep burnout at bay :hehe:

Might I suggest bendorsey's Work Train? 38 work cars (MoW) several with variants (75 including all the variants), everything from simple flatcars on up to animated/lighted cars. All are a bland gray for the most part and have railroad names and car numbers configurable in the config.txt file.

I will probably take a whack at them eventually but if you're looking for something to dabble at these are crying out for lovin'.

In the CM enter "work" in the name field and Author bendorsey ;)

(same car as the one on the left above)

Because of the way the textures are mapped to the meshes you are pretty limited as to what you can do. I just played with the brightness and contrast to achieve this but there are only three very simple textures on this model so adding things like logo's isn't possible, so far as I can tell. For instance all the black on the car body are from a single 16X16 solid color bmp that colors the stove pipes, ladder rungs, doors, and trim work. There was another 16X16 solid color bmp that colored the window bars and a 256X512 jpg that is for all the wood paneling, it is repeated over and over leading to the patterning you see.

You can probably achieve some pretty cool stuff with these without a lot of painting skills but you are going to be limited.

Well maybe I can't make a reefer out of it but WOW what a great find on a series of work cars. A little Photoshopping and these are going to be perfect!

I been going over your post a few times now. I'v desided I'll make you a reefer just tell my what you wont in detail and i'll see what I can do. I work off TRS12 I can make a blank mesh and go form there. let me know apond your chose.

WOW, thank you very much! I just looking for a simple wooden meat reefer that I can add this logo. Sadly the color one is small but I think I can recolor the B&W one then add it the the reefer.

And this could be an older version which I like better I'm not sure I can find this old logo but maybe I can find fonts close enough. The color of both the car and roof are perfect though

I'll see what I can do The roof on my can is all most the same All I need to do is ajust the doors & hand brack. hmm I'll do up a prototipe reefer. yoo wont open doors or closed and the reef hachs open closed. I know some guys like to see the loads inside the car.

Is there anything you wont me to add or change nows the time becuse the next step is to put the mesh together after that its harder to fix or change.
NewBitmapImage-12.jpg

I skiped a few steps to show you a demo look not to worry The car is not rurned I do demos to see what it looks like in TRS.
The Demo reefer just a blank look to gige you a idea as to what its going to look like ones i'm done. I can go into fine detail and make each pise of wooden planks for the body and not have a in side. or I can do both the more detail the more poly is needed to make it look good. the non inside will give a better fnish then this car this car is build for a slode color.
just a few ideas of to what I can do. working in TRS12 comvriting to TRS10 won't hart the mesh any.
I don't do this for avery one or all the time. I wonted to make a nother tipe of car for my route anyway kill to brids with one stone. lol

It perfect! :udrool: I don't need the doors to work as I don't want you to go to too much trouble. My only other request is to use the older style bogies and not the roller bearing ones as this car will have been built around the 1920's or 30's.

It simply looks amazing!

Andrews tucks are appropriate. Arch-bar trucks banned from interchange routes in 1941; although they were allowed on privately owned industrial rails; not common carrier's.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Bedford style bogies like below.

EDIT: Sorry the other style of bogie I was thinking of is called the Bettendorf bogie.

alright I'll see what I can find on DLS I hade to made a minor fix to the mesh to hide the mass form were I cut out the doors orther then that here what the real car will look like but it will be a blank texture with out the road name or logo ready to go.
dragonharh_20120107_0000.jpg

it has AP for 50 loads but you don't need to ues them if you don't wont I'll remove most of then seeing that its pointless haveing 50 were the car will be closed in and not open.
Heres The look I found the bogeys I'm uesing TRS12 its no prolbem convroting it to 10
