unable to register trainz helper registry key

i get a "Unable to register trainz helper registry key" every time i try and use trainz helper in the download centre....i have a shiny new copy of trs 2004 with the sp4 build and i have already had kittens installing it. i am not great at all this stuff and i really just want to play trainz with my son....getting a bit hacked off so please help if possible.

Firstly have you registered it? If not you wont get any downloads. The second thing is, if registered, have you entered your kuid number into the edit kuid icon (auran TRS2004 folder). Third have you configured your username and password into the configuration settings.

Are you using Windows Vista or Windows 7?

If you are then you need to run the program as an Administrator. This will get rid of the register error you are receiving.

Having same problem, and I have all versions I own, UTC, TRS 2004, TRS 2006, and TS 2009 registered. Old computer went down, and I bought a new one, and reinstalled 2004, and 2009 on it. Old system was XP OS, new is Vista OS. Was not asked to register again after install. Everything else works fine so far, except for Gmax. I asked on other threads if anyone else who has Vista, and uses Gmax is having trouble with it, but got no answers yet. Also posted a screen capture of the problem. Sure wish some one would answer back.
P.S. I also have them set to compatable mode for XP SP2, and administrator. I still get the register error.

Have you tried installing the program as the administrator as well as running it with the same rights. This might make a difference with GMAX. I don't know of an answer otherwise. It may have other issues as well due to it being an older application that is no longer updated or supported.

Yes! I have tried both ways. I would think there would be quite a few content creators that use Gmax, who have changed to Vista computers by now, and if they were having problems would be on here asking about it. So if not how are they geting it to work?
