Unable to download in "Content"

I recently purchased Trainz 2009. I went to Planet Auran website and registered, got my username and password. When I go to "Content" it will not let me in. Says my username and password are wrong. It will not let me enter the User ID in the space marked. Am I correct in assuming that the CD key is also the serial #? it is the only # that came with the program.

Well thanks a lot people for all the help. This game has about the most screwed up registration procedures and instructions that I have ever run across. I have done everything I can find to do and still when I try to open "Content", I get the invalid user and password message. There is talk of a serial # but the only # that came with my CD was a CD Key. Nor can I understand what this User ID # is all about. In some instructions on the website it says;

How to register your User ID in Trainz
To register your User ID with Trainz, select "Register User ID" under Programs->Auran->Trainz in your Start Menu. Alternatively, you can use Windows Explorer to browse to your Trainz folder and either open "Register User ID" or run the file 'EditKUID.exe'.

WEll I hate to inform you that there is nothing in my start menu called "register user ID" and there is no file on my computer named "EditKUID.exe"

It also says; "If you have Trainz 1.0 you will need to upgrade to Service Pack 3 to use this function.Well my trainz says it it version 2.9, build 37625 but I went there anyhow. I could not find anything at that link called "service pack 3".

Like I said, the further I get into this software, the more screwed up it appears and this request for help just keeps moving on down in the forum with no one answering.

Ok

When you register the software you need the CD key - that's the long set of characters in 4 digits.

That lets you run the software.

Th reach the download station (either the website of via the Content Manager), you need to be registered with Auran - as a username & password. (and you write that you have).

OK, now go into Content manager, and use the File -Options menu. There's a space here to enter your username & password. Once you have done that, the CM2 should be able to link your username with the serial number and allow you access to the download station.

I've no idea where you found the information on registering, but you have Trainz 2009 - not Trainz 1.0 (a much older program - with totally different procedures). You should have a manual on your disc (ok. 2009 ships with the 2006 manual, but most of it is the same).

Please be patient - your postings happened overnight (well they did here in the UK)

Firstly it would help if you told us which operating system you use, as Vista & XP are different beasts & need treating differently.

I have done this many times and all I get is:

"Incorrect username and password. Please re-enter your Planet Auran username and password to access the Trainz Download Station."

I have screenshots of these screens but I am not sure how to post them yet. I am still new to this forum and it's procedures.

I found the information on registering at the Planet Auran website. I clicked "User ID" in the left hand side.

I am using XP sp2 for OS. I used the CD key as serial #. It was the only # that came with the CD. (on back of Manual). I have no trouble logging on the website and editing my profile etc.

Sorry if I got a little impatient.

Ok,

Try clicking on the tab "Profile" above.

This should take you to your Auran profile....

The Username is the one you enter into the CM2 space.

The Password shows as a line of asterisks (******) - click on the edit button, then copy & paste it into the password sapce under the user ID

(It's case sensiitve...)

At this point, the CM2 is set correctly - unfortunately, you will need (I believe) Supervisor access on these programs (Win XP set up) - not just "user" rights.

You'll also need to chack that those programs also have access to the Internet (my PC Anti-virus software defaults to blocked access) and that your router/modem (if you have one) also allows access.

What happens if you click on the tab "Download station" at the top of this page?

The username and password that I am entering into the CM2 space is the same one at the Planet Auran web site.
