Unable to download the route file 88.42MB, - have 190+ days remaining on first class ticket, renewed computer Windows 8, had no hassles playing the same on windows 7

Your problem is Windows 8. You would have been much better off sticking to Windows 7. All Windows 8 does is make money for Microsoft. Trainz does not run on Win 8 as far as I know.

I am sorry colourlight, but you are wrong.

I am running Trainz on Windows 8 without any problems. That is: With the same problems / bugs as those I already had when still on Windows XP.
I have installed the same route without any problems. I used Content Manager to download and install, not the website.

Run the game as administrator, but that should also have been the case with Windows 7.
Check if you have the game patched to the latest build (49922 in most cases).

Thanks, patched to build 49922 automatically, just to clarify, Content Manager is the "Content" on first screen, yes.... Downloaded a few files but when it got to the 88.42MB file, the blue line went all the way across and then the download speed just slowed down gradually till it went 0.00Kb, let it stay for that for hours but never finished actually downloading

I've seen this with UMR downloads. What I do is go the download load page at Auran and download as a cdp and then install. I'm not sure what the problem is (size of file?) but its been around for me for a long time.

A warning about using that method - it will not work for multiplayer routes, sessions, or dependencies as installing from a CDP causes the content to become Locally Modified which is a no-no in the Multiplayer world.

This isn't correct. I use this method every times when the CM doesn't commit the downloaded Content. Almost files greater than 10MB. If you commit a cdp (downloaded from DLS), it will work, but when you commit a file which is opened for edit then it doesn't work for multiplayer.
