Nice shot R3. Looks like it was a hot day on the tarmac though. :hehe:
Like the night shots emo, but can't see the last one with six pairs of glasses on.
Lewis, I was a big fan of branchlines until my favourites were axed in the 60s. Where's the saddle tank from, please?
Added a bit more dereliction...
...and then realised it could do with a closed station.
Close-up. The brake van was left on a short length of track. It has been condemned, so it might be collected later.
I think the lorry and the Class 26 are worlds apart. I need to swap it.
If it hits the old bus I forgot to move I can take it to the scrapyard. Before you ask JBS steamshovel (both tracked and wheeled) Some of the other derelict buildings are DomSarto.
Right, I'm leaving the gang indoors and heading to Skegness to see the remains of the station. There not much left of it and the local council have just asked Network Rail what they intend putting back in its place. Funny old world. Not to mention more of our railway heritage gone.

Great shots Escafeld! This line was actually closed to passengers in 1950 and finally in 1958 but my pet preservation project (the Yorkshire Wolds Railway) have recently secured funding to start restoration work this year. The engine shed at Burdale is still there but very dilapidated.
The tank is the Aspinall tank from TC3 - it took about an hour to move it but it looks the part - the actual shunter was an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 called "Burdale".

Casper, what you have done is fab, no matter what the size is..
My version is scale length and includes about 5 miles of double track through Wareham and the entire length of the Swanage Branch. It has been created with google earth to make base maps and google street view for the topography but not DEM. Track bed and road positioning is accurate to the base maps and the 'lie of the land' is representative of the area. This is my shot of Corfe from a similar perspective to yours.
The route is 37 boards with about 6 more to do for it to be finished. Once I have all the scenery done I will add more detail and all those 'little bits' that make a scene
...and this is Norden looking towards Corfe. You can just make out the castle on the hill to the right.
The one thing that I can see different from yours is that your topography seems more realistic than mine, and as you can see I have used the minimum number of base boards but I intend to hide this fact with backdrops.

Hi Andy.
You’ve clearly done a great amount of work to complete the whole of the heritage line PLUS Wareham. Nice job!
We’ve been quite different on our approach. I used basemaps as well, but utilising photo’s I took from the 1:25000 OS Outdoor Leisure Map of the area. From those, I used invisible track to overlay the contours. I’m having to finish sculpting the inevitable “terracing” by hand, after using the smoothing tool. I guess I could set up another series using Google Earth shots to place more of the topographical detail. The map only gives a small amount in relation to buildings and trees.
I’ve gone heavy on the detail in my screenshot, but I find that quite useful. Apart from the sense of achievement in completing at least a small part of the route, I can use that scene as a small “warehouse” of appropriate general foliage, textures, trackside items etc. which I can grab and duplicate elsewhere, without having to remember asset names from an ever increasing list of downloaded stuff.
I’ve just replaced Corfe station with an excellent stone station by Domsarto. Dom has just announced it in the Freeware section, available from Storegate (DLS later I believe). I still need to place a canopy, but it’s looking really good. It has nice Purbeck looking stone walls and chimneys. Not an exact replica, but tons better than the brick built station I had before.
I’ll post a shot of the station after a bit more work.

Well im not going to buy 2010 just for one route so i might as well try and patch my 2009.
(edit) as a test im downloading it in my now almost obsolete trainz 2006 as a test ill let you know the results.

As Joe T already said, the route will only work in TS09 SP4 and onwards. If you're downloading it in TS06, you're wasting your time. Though I suppose that you could move the file into your TS09 and run the patch.
Which reminds me, has anyone done the Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh route? Having purchased TransDEM, I was considering that route as my first attempt with a DEM map.

Ghostly 9f revisits the 21st Century
Not photoshopped.
Two images (below) built as separate Routes from different eras (or you could use layers if you’re using a newer version), but using the identical camera angle.
Both shots then put through Windows Movie Maker with a dissolve between the shots and PrintScreen saved half way through the transition.

That would be a fabulous route to see in Trainz, I for one hope you do give it a go and you have plenty of diesels available to run on the route

Thanks tmz, that's just the type of encouragement I need to can my current route and see how DEMs work out. I'm half way through the tutorials so hope to get it all into Trainz by the weekend and crack on. I'm making no promises as the last thing I want accused of is creating vapourware but I think it would be a cracking route to have.
