Hi nexus,
I have a little question for you. First what program do you use to reduce the polys on a train, and how do I do reduce polys. Second, how do you get the train from sketchup to whatever program you are using and then export the to trainz. Please PM the answer to me.

i got some stuff from the guys making the east coast line and yes the good old high level was with it BUT suffered a hard drive fail and i am tryin to see what can be saved if any but they were cdps so will let you know as soon as i can.

cheers bob

That sounds fantastic thank you ever so much as the bridges are the main part of it. I am currently in a 1980s version so i dont need the modern bridges and sage building and i am happy with the rest of the content im sure i can achieve this it will be tough but its a big plan iv always wanted to do.I would be happy to get a few people onboard with this project somthing to compete with the rail sim newcastle to york route i know trainz has the potential to compete with it if the right heads are on board :). If you manage to get the cdp's i am very thankful and hey maybe i could use a beta tester at some point:D

Just a few from my Dartford to London route. I've added the Lewisham link. The stills below are between Lewisham and New Cross...

@paulper.

I like the skyline in your 1st shot, the distant church spire looks good. It's reminscent of the view from my front bedroom window in some aspects, minus the smoking chimneys and railway lines, and the locale of course!

Was this route available or was it for your own pleasure. Looks like a challenge to run.

Regards Dave.

I did it to amuse myself and it ran fine in Windows XP. The change to Vista 64 bit killed it. Captain Scarlet and I worked to get it to merge with his Yorkshire, which I did manage to do. I could run it from Derby, through Toton, to Swinton. Or even via the Lean Valley and through Linby. The first time I did anything with it in Surveyor, in Vista, I opened it and vast areas of landscape had climbed as high as it is possible to raise. There were other problems such as not being able to save it as a package, but I can still run on it. I expect when I change to Windows 7 it will be gone, but I might do a modern version, which means a lot less track, unfortunately. Regards, Dave

Thanks for the reply Dave.

I had a similar experience when i merged 2 Yorkshire routes in Vista. Tried to level the land scape but gave up in the end. May try again soon using Windows 7.

Regards Dave.

Office Building

This is my first attempt at creating assets in Google Sketchup for TRS with RubyTMIX plugin. Despite not supported in the literature I have discovered that assets can infact be installed in TRS2004 by manually copying into the Dispatcher > Downloads folder though there may be some fiddling to do with Trainz Objects.

This is an office building (originally intended to be a block of luxury flats but has kind of morphed and the penthouse suite is now a restaurant) I have created (except for the patio tables on the roof terrace which I downloaded) that is going to go on Glasgow waterfront near Central Station in my fictional UK Intercity route. I may put it on the DLS once its a bit more polished.

A heads up too there are some pretty good assets you can find on Google Earth or the Sketchup asset sharing site that can probably be put into TRS as well.
