I'm pretty sure that's an old Metroliner car that was given a streamlined cab/nose. It's definantly American, you can see an Amfleet car next to it. Any more info on this unit and what happened to it?

a) please don't quote pictures.

b) for some more info on the car see my last post.

Briana, the third pic is the SOAC, or the State Of the Art Cars. They were some high tech cars which served as a kind of prototype. I don't know what became of them, but the cars were pretty nice as compared to some of the units on NYCTA at the time.

the CTA obtained some SOAC cars as well.

Here is a gallery of the CTA ones:

Personally I like them; I think they fit in very well with the Art-Deco feel Chicago & NYC had at the time.

Aparently they are at the seashore trolley museum.

Actually it's the early version of the SPV2000 that was overhauled and now runs on the Merto-North.

Personally I think that the Broad Street Line cars in my City, Philadelphia, Are the hideous piece of work I have to ride on when I go to school.

Also state of the art cars. Philly had them in the 70's for the BSL.

I would rather ride on these than the huge metalic pieces of junk we have now.
Oh yeah , Back in 74' they had these too.
