ugly trains

All the new electric trains in the UK like the Class 450 look cool, but the old ones from the 1960s look like they've been made out of scrap, like this:

BR Class 421.

I'm glad they're all out of service, but still, they were a good symbol of our heritage.

In my opinion, the best-looking British train is this:

BR Class 390.

Only problem with the Class 390s is that my laptop skidded off the table when it tilted on a bend near Berkhampstead -.- And this was before they tweaked the TASS system on them.

Liam please tell me what you been smoking? The best UK train of all time has to be this one:

The HST's are over 30 years old and still going strong :) The Pendos will be breaking down VERY SOON :p

Alexey91, do you know what that train is, and where the station is? The train is ugly enough to be interesting.
I'm offended when someone says the 700 series Shinkansen looks like a duck.
It obviously looks like a platypus.:D

Thanks

I found some more pictures. The flaking green color is pretty ugly, but I think it has good lines. Here's an Estonian ER2.

I like this color a lot better.
The ER2 is available to add to Grand Theft Auto. Maybe we can get it in Trainz.

The Japanese Bullet Train (Shinkansen) Series 700? It so does not look like a duck! Do you see Yellow on the bill... No! You should never insult this train in front of me! It's one of my favorite trains next to the N700!

That doesn't change the fact that it is hideous and physically painful to look at.

Also, regarding the lack of yellow on the "bill":

At least it LOOKS semi-intended, as opposed to some customizations I've seen (case in pont, the Rock Island reowered one of their DL109's with an E7's engine, as seen below).

and SPV with a "streamlined" front.

After a little research; I found out that Budd released to "demo" SPV 2000 units one with the "streamlined" front (seen above) the other with the standard metroliner front. for obvious reasons Amtrak bought the non-streamlined one. The nose adds really nothing additional, just "aesthetics"

The ugliest trains I've seen are definitely from here in Northern Ireland.
The old 3-car (sometimes 5, occasionally 7) "suburban" trains that shuttled from Dublin to Portrush/Londonderry. Passenger trains of course, it's rare to see anything else in N.I; perhaps the (very, very) occasional blue "works" locomotive.
Unfortunately, try as I have, I just can't find an image of them.
They have recently been replaced by shiny new, yet equally ugly, 3, 5 or 7-car trains.
Absolutely no character at all; imagine dull coloured boxes on wheels and you're close enough...
