Two Problems With JR Site (redirections and "freeware" message)

Hello, although I like a new site design and all JR's stuff, I have some problems on JR website:

1) I tried to download KCS new freeware boxcar. It takes quite long to open the KCS boxcar download page and instead of this finally I see some error message about "too many redirections" and I finish on http://jointedrail.com/index.php/ns-heritage-cr.html page. With an error message something like "circle of redirection". What's wrong? On the page is wroting about reloading or refusing the cookies, but I don't know how to do that and why I should do that.

2) Is really necessary to see twenty times per day a window "Enjoying the freeware..."? I understand you that payware stuff is your business but don't you think about some check box like "Don't show it anymore" or using cookies? I'm sorry, but it's a little bit annoying. :)

I also get redirected to the CR Heritage Unit when trying to get to the Ferromex SD70ACe. And I logged in.

I've noticed that too. It seems anytime a page is taking a long time to load it redirects you to the CR heritage unit. Usually this occurs when clicking on a search result.

Thought I'd post this about problems I'm having with trying to download the 40 ft. boxcars from the Jointed Rail website. I'm logged into the site, but I don't see them listed under "freeware" (where they used to be,) so I search the site for "40ft" and find them. Screen-grab of the search results below:

But when I click on any one of these links, say for example, the "40ft Boxcar Southern Railroads Pack" -- which has the link to the page: http://jointedrail.com/40ft-boxcar-southern-railroads-pack.html -- I get redirect the default page of the site (http://jointedrail.com/), even though I'm logged in, etc.

I had a similar problem trying to download some the twin hopper packs on the site, but finally was able to download some of them, after numerous tries. With the hoppers, I also kept getting redirected back to the default page of the website.

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

There is an another problem with JR's website - if I try to click on Train FX update link (http://jointedrail.com/train-fx-library-1003.html), I stay only on index page. Can't access to download FX at all. Any idea?

And do I need this if I already have SP1 HF3?

The message at the top of the page will tell you the reason - you have to login first. As for the SP side of things, I will leave that one to JR.

Shane

EDIT: Looks like you need version 1.31 for TS12 SP1 - link for that content is at the bottom of the page you linked to.

I think I'm always logged in. Now when I click to the link again, I can get to this download page, still without login, because I see I'm still logged.

As for version 1.31, thanks for the advise, but why I downloading jointed_rail_train_effects_library_v_1.32.cdp from the page "Train FX Library 1.31 (TS12 SP1 - TSMAC2 - T:ANE)"?

There are certain pages at JR that will redirect you to the site's main page even if you are logged in. There are things that don't seem to work as they should at the site. See my earlier post in this thread.

OK, I'll be aware next time if I'm logged or not. In any case, it's important that me and anybody else could download effect library for the current version. Thanks for the help and your opinion.

There's not many of those, although I found that if you log in first then attempt to view certain links, it usually works.

Shane

I posted specific examples earlier in the thread of links that are broken, but what the heck, I'll do it again.

Go to the site. Log in. Search for "40ft" (no space between 40 and ft.) Try clicking on the links resulting from the search. Some will work, but several of the results of the search will redirect to the main page of the site.

I just tried to download the FX library and had no problem. If you are actually logged in it should say "Welcome whatever your user name is" just a little to the right of the top center of the page just below the header.

When you download the FX version 1.31 shown on the Dependencies page it is version 1.32. I remember someone bringing that to their attention but they must have forgotten to update what it says on the page.

Bill

I can not reproduce any of the problems on search at this time. maybe try clearing your cookies or cache or something.

The TFX Library is current 1.32. I fixed the physical download link to say 1.32 instead of 1.31 but i don't see it anywhere else.

I myself have been having a few problems with the JR site. Most of the buttons (payware, freeware, etc) are screwed up somehow. This is what I see with the buttons, and I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to look like that. Some of the drop down menus are a bit cut off or bugged up graphically, also

Also, a few freeware items, like the 40ft Boxcars, redirect me to the home page oddly.

I've tried using Firefox (however hugely outdated, v28 or something), updated Google Chrome, and Safari and all produce the same problems. I am signed in as well.

Just me, or anyone else? Even better, anyone know a fix or reason why this is so?

Cheers,
SM

Looks like a browser issue. The page isn't loading the CSS rules to override the lists.

This often happens when server response time is slow... usually meaning your connection is struggling.
