two monitors

Answer to John,

John,
Thanks for your synical answer!

Have pity with your mother, because I'm afraid that that you are not older than 18 years.

Continue this way: you will be pleasant company.

As you can see: you have a good result: the discussion stopped immediatly after you fine contribution.

I'm sorry you merely wished to discuss the matter my understanding was you were thinking about doing it. Do I assume you're studying English as a second language and hoped to get a bit of writing practice in? I could give you some feedback about the use of prepositions if you'd find that helpful, they are one of the trickiest things to get right. One technique I've seen used is to compose the message in Microsoft Word and spell / grammar check it before cutting and pasting into the forum.

There are a number of issues about using two monitors and most of them revolve around performance.

There is a English expression called Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt you might find it useful.

Hi Poul (Electro),

I watched your video and saw, that you have 2 monitors running Trainz.

Is this done by 1 PC?

I have about same hardware-configuration as you have (8 Gbyte memory, 64 bits Windows 7, great graphic card etc.).
How did you create this setup?

I think everybody is interested to know.
(I received a message of Trainz, that 2 monitors are impossible today).
So can you explain how to use 2 monitors on 1 PC?
(2 PC's would be no problem either; in Flight Simulator I use 2 PC's to run 4 monitors)

Greetings,
Jos
Just depends how you want to run it, I run trainz at 3200x1200 which stretches across both screens. That is about the only way to run it well. Putting the option into trainzoptions makes it look weird and distorted when you spin the camera.
All you need to do is hook the screen sup to the graphics card and then choose the set the screens to either A work independently of each other or B have the task bar stretch across both screens(But I think Vista and 7 eliminated option B) Then launch Trainz and go to options and select the biggest reso it shows.

...me fail english? -that's unpossible.

And strangely enough in this context unpossible works because you know the rules and so you can break them.

It's kind of fun but there is no central set of rules for English, regional variations abound and sometimes we identify with a group of others by using special syntax or meanings to words to exclude outsiders. Street talk for example. However to do this you well actually have to know the rules you are breaking.

In the forum context it helps to be able to write more formal English to avoid ambiguity especially in technical matters.

"Have pity with your mother" is this expressing sympathy because my mother is having difficulties with her groceries, sympathy with mother for being lumbered with me? Sympathy with both my mother and myself because my father has just passed away or sympathy with me because they know my mother is a difficult person to deal with. It's difficult to know which one is valid or if there is a different interpretation that I've missed.

Your comment is at least clear and unambiguous, so this is good.

I do have 2 monitors on my PC, one 32" LCD Screen and a 15" Monitor (possibly 2 15" monitors in the future) I run trainz on the 32 while having something like a program on BBCiplayor or even just Windows media player. I do this because i am at a really tedious part of the route building process; detailed scenery and final touches.:p

MAP viewing?

Hio Gandalf0444,

Thanks for the explanation.
Sounds very good.
Would it be possible to have MAP-viewing on the second display with your method?

Jos

No that is impossible unfortunately, however you can drag the minimap over to the corner and leave it there. Only thing you can really do to have a map.

meant well

Hi John,

Sorry about your father.
I believe that your intention was good.
Languages are always difficult if it matters details.

Don't worry about him he died ten years ago. I was simply trying to say there were a number of possibilities for your sentence. Mother's groceries were a much more serious problem, she doesn't get out these days so we do her shopping over the Internet. Due to a mix up with the bank she didn't have a debit card available for roughly six weeks which meant it was either jump on a plane to travel the 3,000 miles to do her shopping or use Amazon and my credit card. The Fedex delivery charge was more than the cost of the sausages, and the courier delivery cost for the bananas was greater than the cost of the bananas. Still cheaper than flying into Europe though.

If you fill in your details about city country it makes it easier for people to work out if your English has mistakes because its not your first language or if you're just unable to express yourself.
