TUME’s Simulation of “The Milwaukee Road”

Awesome Screenies

Tume, your screenshots of your content Is awesome and I think its one of the best content in trainz 2nd in Place right after Ocemy's Chinese Trainz Content. The Northern Pacific was a very interesting railroad and rostered a bunch of steam and a chunk of diesels that would go to Burlington Northern when the Big Merger came.

Dang... looks like I may have to convert to TRS2006 finally! These pics are outstanding. Nice work on the SD40-2's and the ability to step outside the cab. I always try that since I could when I rode with CSX on their SD40's and SD50's, but it rarely looks very good in Trainz to do so.

I listened to the SD40-2's enginesound in your intro video. They do not sound like they are using one of Wulf9's engine sounds. What sound file are you using?

I downloaded those SD45's also. They are HEAVY. My framerate went from around 30 fps to under 5 fps with just one. No other rolling stock. Deleting them returned things to normal. Yikes. Scary.

Hallo Adam,

thank you very much for your compliment. You are right, the sound file is not from wulf 9. I created another sound file, which sounds more similar to the sound of the Milwaukee Road diesels at the PENTRAX video, I once purchased. You can find the sound file at DLS, as I also used it for my FP45’s, which you also can find al DLS.

To make it easier for you, I just list the content here:

Engine Sound: Diesel-Sound-001 82412:53003:1

FP45 – Santa Fe (red-silver): SF-FP45-001 82412:73450001:1

FP45 – Santa Fe (yellow-blue): SF-FP45-YB-001 82412:73450002:1

Be sure, you get all the dependencies for the locos at DLS, like the interiors and the bogeys and so on. But I have to say, that the main texture is also 2048x2048 and it’s a bit heavy too. I will have to optimize this later on. See screens below.

I also downloaded the SD45. They have really nice stuff at this side, but I agree, its very heavy. The mesh is absolutely stunning and the texture even very detailed. Just it appears in a little different colour. I designed the colours the way like it looks after the usage faded away the intensity making it a bit bleached looking, just like at many MILW SD40 photos I studied. In fact, I have got the colours and some texture parts by working it out from real photos.

That’s for the moment. :)

Cheers Uwe

Tume said his content will be released around the end of the summer at least that was I heard.

It's often wiser to try to look in the post to see if your question has already been answered or not than to just simply ask it for lack of effort. Some of the stuff is already available on the DLS under his username (tume).

No you were right! If I recall earlier in the thread, Tume said he'd try to have it done by the end of the summer. I'm quoting you for trainmonkey's benefit. :)

I'm not trying to be pedantic, it's just these kind of questions can frustrate a creator and when you see several of them in one thread it can be really frustrating.

It'll come when it's ready. :)

Oustanding! You da man, Tume! I love the sound those SD40-2's made in your video. I must download and check this out. Must.

I remember those FP45's. Is the MILW FP45 available, too? I'm going to have to get those FP45's and see if I can make this...

Did you make the S-3 4-8-4 steam locomotive, or is that someone else's work?

Hallo, its very nice to see, that you like my work. You could make a reskin, but just on a first short look at the picture, I have to say, that this loco, you want to make, requires several mesh changes! As well, I have created the source files of my texture the way, I can change the color scheme quite easy and fast, as I used different layer. You do not have this and you would need a lot of time.

I could create such a version for you. I would need more pictures from the loco all arround, if possible and a view onto the roof would be very helpful, as the SF-version and your loco have some different roof attachments, which can be seen at the photo you posted so far. But you will have to be a little patient, as I have a lot of stuff to do at my Milwaukee Project. I spent about 80% of my spar time at it and so you see, there is no much space for other things left – considering, I just need to support a few social life at least.
;)
Think about it. :)

The Milwaukee FP45 is not jet available, a I want to release it within the other Milwaukee Road content.

Yes the 4-8-8 is my creation – still not ready to get uploaded. Its missing a cab interior and some script files as well as a special sound file. At the moment, the loco still runs using sound and engine configs like a diesel loco!!
You can see the 4-8-4 also at my banner below. I would not use the work of somebody else to put my name and KUID above it. Its not all of the loco and rolling stock I created, but it represents the highlights.
:)

Just use the link below, to see my contribution for the video of the week – there you can see the Beta 4-8-4 running, just in case, you have not seen it jet ;)

:)

Cheers TUME

Tume, there's three reasons I still have Trainz installed nowdays;....Jim Dep,...TrainzItalia,...and you!:hehe:

I had no intent with asking you to convert your FP45 to an F45 in Susquehanna's "Yellow Jacket" paint scheme, but it's nice to see that you would consider such a project. I do not wish to create additional burdens for you - I don't want a Trainz lynch mob coming after me for delaying the anticipated completion of your creations! :hehe: I wondered if the upper area painted black on the MILW engines matched that of the NYS&W's F45's that it could be an interesting project to attempt. But if you feel such a challenge sufficiently interests you, don't let me get in the way!

I totally understand the time limits imposed by life on creation time for Trainz! I was a single parent for about 6 years with a teaching job that took 60 hours a week minimum. Now I have a six month-old infant who enjoys nothing more than sitting on daddy's lap (and grabbing the keyboard) while he plants weeds, places structures on, and test runs any of my four current layout projects! Plus, since this is summer, I am trying to spend as much time with my older children, ages 8 and 5, riding bikes, visiting parks, visiting railway museums, spelunking, being active at church, etc. Sleep is a difficult prospect at best. Feel no pressure from me! I am content to wait until the next Ice Age for the Milwaukee Road project, the Susquehanna F45's, or whatever you create. I've got enough on my plate to look forward to as it is! :hehe:

I thought in one of your videos you had credited the 4-8-4 to someone else, that is why I asked. If it was available and I had missed it, like so many other things, I was interested in adding it to my collection. No problem! I have plenty of other power to operate with. But I will definitely check out the video you have of it. I'd love to hear how it sounds when you get that completed.

Have you ever worked as a scientist? Just curious. In research, crediting others' work is of prime importance, and you appear to have that same high standard.

this might be off topic but I have a few other questions for tume

1. Is your Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 going to be on the Download Station

2. Do you think you can make your other content compatible with TRS2004 if there not

Night mode for Depot Buildings

The night mode came late to Avery's Depot Building, the Substation and its Operators homes. This was one of the issues at the to do list of the final details.
:)

Avery, Id with 4-8-4 S3 Northern No.267 in daylight.

I am preparing to upgrade to TRS2006 if that is what is required to run this route. I bought '06 years ago, messed with it for about half an hour, then uninstalled it. But I am willing to reinstall if need be, I am that impressed with the artistry I've seen here.

Then again, once I read more about '09, I may decide it's time to upgrade again!

What other details do you have to add to the 4-8-4 besides the interier???

Well – about the to do list, I meant the open point issue about the route details, not the 4-8-4. I will get back to it, after I finished the route.

But at the loco – I have to double check the photos again, to find out the final details about the 4-8-4 in regular service time and the 4-8-4 today. Than I have to change the mesh at both model versions the way the investigation carried out.
Both versions – for example – needs another texture detail for the front face of the air horn – if you look at it at the picture, the horn does not wear a very good texture at its front plane.
And last but not leased, I have to create a new sound, the interior and the engine config for it. Not to forget, the regular service version, like represented at the screens, will have to be equipped with running numbers from 261 to 269. The heritage version – 261 – off course does not need a running number, unless the still existing 265 would be prepared to run on the rails again.
:)

Cheers Uwe
