TUME’s Simulation of “The Milwaukee Road”

Othello with - and without snow

Hallo,

just some other screens of Othello in summer and winter as more buildings now have been improved to support the season change function of TS2010.

A damn shame that Auran did things half @ss like normal and couldnt extend the seasonal textures to track and splines, spoils the realism. However good work and thanks for taking that time to add the winter textures. Hopefully splines will be winter texture enabled in the next release of TRS.

a big + 1!

Although I suppose one could just swap out the tracks or a few splines for a winter look but I totally agree. It's all or nothing if you ask me, but then again we still get rain in tunnels and multi-bell ringing consists. Have to wait for the next version I guess...

Hallo,

I described that problem to Auran too. We have to see how the next release will handle such things. There is even more need for improvement of splines. For example, it is currently not possible to create an LOD spline object containing a start, end and middle object and allows to prevent bending in curves. Such objects would be required to create LOD catenary and telegraph wires including the poles in the spline just similar to the non LOD splines, which makes is possible.

In between I will concentrate myself to get the non spline objects and the ground texture ready for season change. Also there are still major areas at the route which needs to be decorated from zero, so there is enough work to do. Per haps some new possibilities about splines will be available in between.

Sounds great Tume. LOD splines would be very useful in handy indeed.

Keep up the great work!

whoops. i took a dump in my pants when i saw the pics
:udrool:
cant wait.

also might i ask when is trainz 2011 coming out??

no kidding. Tume will release it when he's good and ready...and the constant pestering and annoying comments are ruining his magnificent thread...jeez

Just thought I would add my appreciation to that already given for the Avery to Drexel route in TS2010 which, believe it or not, I've only just got round to exploring. This is an example of route building at its highest level and must admit I feel humbled when I compare with my own efforts.

Now I have to admit to committing heresy and coupling some of the FMA Pullmans behind the Hungarian electric locos :o then sitting back in the bar car and watching the scenery go by, but once I've learned the route it will be "hands on" with the correct traction and rolling stock.

It's also quite fascinating to start researching the Milwaukee Road and stunned to see the line was run into the ground and most of it closed, albeit surviving as rail trail or 4x4 roads.

I sincerely hope this route can be extended for the next version of Trainz - looking at the network map there was a MR line from Lewistown to Great Falls via Shonkin which looks quite scenic and interesting, amongst many others.

Anyhow, thanks again for the route and bringing a smile to this old trainsimmer's face.

I have made a hornsound and enginesound for the 261. The Hornsound was made using the audio from video of the 261 blowing its whistle while standing still and the enginesound was made using the MSTS 261 enginesounds from the sound update. I will try and upload them to the DLS.

may i kindly ask when you are going to release your milw steamers?
or itleast the hornsound?

Let's not scare him away again...We're all waiting with baited breath ourselves. oh well. Judging from the Avery-Drexel route that's in TS2010, Tume seems to be the uber rivet-counter type, kinda like me:hehe: :p I think he takes pride in making his creations look and feel right. I'm assuming that's why 261 and 267 are taking so long.
