Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
While we're on the subject of memory, this;

has got to be memory related. Anyone else getting that?

Hello everybody,
When working at my route - in my case, surveyor freezes when I'm doing the following action
Turning around with the arrow keys, or using the move or rotate tab within the object section ( F3), but most of the time it's the rotation within surveyor-view.
It freezes most of the time for max 30 sec, then I can continue until I use the same buttons discribed above.
I occasionally have to use the alt+tab key when I cannot continue working.
Switching with the alt+tab key from within Trainz to desktop ( or other open program ) and back to Trainz, helps in my case.
Best regards

sniper: Increase your paging file by a factor of 3. (3 times installed RAM) It should help considerably. I got this from the MS website. I am using WIN7 though.

"Do you know anyone who could install an OEM version of WIN7 on a partion for you?"
Two problems, one I don't have the money for win 7, second win7 uses a lot more memory just for the OS than XP does - for anyone to actually benefit from win7 they would need at least 4 gigs of RAM. Again the solution always boils down to throw more money at the problem and hope for the best. And looking at the latest post by belgian46 I still suspect some kind of software conflict is actually responsible. One example is .NET Framework 2.0, some video games require that installed to run at all - TS2010 is one of those games that will not run at all unless .NET Framework 2.0 is installed in XP. Could one of the earlier or later versions of .NET Framework be the problem? Dunno, needs more testing.
One of the interesting things I discovered recently is that some old static objects can also cause big pauses. In one section of my rather large route, I had constant stutters. The frame rates went from 40 - 59 down to the single digits!
The problem was an overly-built building asset. The Victorian Orphanage to be exact. After a long process of elimination, I discovered the object. I deleted everything from roads to old industry objects. Finally I found the culprit, and this made my day.
I have to admit though this did give me a chance to renovate the area. I was somewhat annoyed by the appearance, and I used this opportunity to update the region.

"In my case both are not started at this time
I can play Trainz09,10 and MSTS"
Try uninstalling .NET Framework 2.0 and see if TS2010 will still run. It won't.
As for assets causing problems, I've been told to use this;
Options, Developer Settings, Show performance stats in Surveyor.
Great, what does all that gibberish mean? The theory is that it shows the KUID number of the worst performing asset in that area, and any buffer count over 100 is bad. I've never seen a buffer count over 30, so if that's the straight dope I must not have any bad assets. Would be nice if there was a way to read the poly counts on all the assets used without having to open one at a time in explorer to view with PEV mesh viewer, and also a filter to sort by mesh poly count, but nothing like that exists AFAIK.
Windows 7 includes the .NET Framework 3.5.1 as part of the operating system. This means you have .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1, it will not show up in the programs and features in control panel. so you do have it.
Hello John,
As I am just starting the construction of my first route, would you mind answering this question?
Old static objects can cause big pauses. Where these static objects available in trainz09 and trainz10 or did you import ( import content or cdp's ) these objects ( made for trs2006, 2004 or older )?
At this time I'm busy with different harbours along the track and I must say it's not that easy for me to change the realistic view into a rectangular view ( due to limitations of the paste rotation tool ( 90 ,180,270,360 degrees only ). That's why I asked the helpdesk if this could be changed into a every 5 degrees option via service pack or within next trainz version ( answer not yet received ).
It would also be very handy if some tool would exist that marks the errorcreating object within your route.![]()
Best regards
