TRS2010

Chris,

So I as I take, you are releasing 2010 with the new content features, then you will release the Drivers Edition (With Multiplayer capabilities) of 2010 shortly after? If this is a stated fact then I will probably get both versions. But that is only if the Drivers Edition comes with Multiplayer capabilities.

Let me know

Kevin

TS2010 is Engineer's Edition, where our focus is on content and gameplay.

TS2010 EE does not include multiplayer.

kind regards,

chris

Thanks for the straight forward answer Chris.

Is there going to be a Drivers Editon of 2010 with Multiplayer?

Okay, I am feeling a bit better about it, but I have one question that is very important to me.

Have you guys inproved the collision physics yet? I am tired of watching as a kicked rail car drives right through a track bumper like it isn't there if I push it too far. I am also pretty tired of accidently picking a switch and watching as the entire train derails. It would be nice if I could uncouple the unaffected cars as part of a clean up operation if there was a derailment. The other train simulators have it, though they don't allow you to continue after a collision, which is very annoying in my opinion.

And no, I am not asking about crumpling, or explsions and death. And no, improved physics would not "make this an M game." (It wouldn't even bump it up to teen. It would just make it more realistic.

In other words the buyers of TS2009 were lied to.
Strictly speaking Trainz has always been a 'lie'. The original intention was a core product with modular releases tacked on to it. It never happened, presumably because the model did not work either technically or financially.

That might be true, but it is blatantly obviously this time. More telling is that the main programmer doesn´t even try to refute it. Apparently its rather common today to say `this` and tomorrow to say `that`. I bought TS2009 on the premises that I needed it to combine with the upcoming EE version because THAT version wouldn´t have the surveyor module in it.

No. Multiplayer is not on the cards for this version of the product, and never has been. It remains something that we're interested in doing, and we are slowly expanding the online capabilities present in the game, but claiming that the TS2010 online capabilities are "multiplayer" would be overly exaggerating the issue.

No. This is something that comes up from time to time but there are simply so many other things above this when it comes to simulation realism that it hasn't been a priority for us. We're much more interested about what happens while you're driving the trains than what happens after they break.

I too would love to see this improved, but I couldn't even begin to guess when that might happen.

I think you misunderstand me. I just couldn't be bothered to answer such an obviously inappropriate comment.

kind regards,

Hi WindWalkr,

I'm just inquiring if this includes surveyor(seeing its a whole new breed of Trainz, I'm assuming it is, despite the "Engineers Edition" label, which may give the impression that its like TRS2006's Driver's Edition), I think I saw somewhere on the 2010 website, but I just wanted to check with someone on the forum boards.

How will TS2010 deal with the "native" mode and "compatibility" mode issue. Will this version be "native" mode only?

And please, please, please make TS2010's version of content manager able to display the Trainz version number when displaying the Download Station database.

Inappropriate perhaps but still true

Chris,

Then what is this from your Trainz 09 website?

Launch Plans: Last Paragraph

To cap off our current plans, we will continue working on new features and support throughout 2009 culminating in the release of Trainz Simulator X (working title) to celebrate 10 years of creating rail simulations. The highlight of this edition will not only be the wonderful new high resolution, high detail content that will have been developed with the new 2009 tools, but also the introduction of Trainz Multiplayer. This has been far and away the most requested feature and we look forward to further expanding the online experience Trainz offers.

Don't tell me that it wasn't planned!!!!!

Uuupsies, thanks :)

And another question(yes I know): can you bring out a specific list of what kind of treez(tm) you have in the tree set you're releasing with ts10? I just want to know if there'll be any Palm trees. If not, thats alright.

And, also, are you going to create an export tool for users who have the SpeedTree software(seeing as you're releasing only the trees, and others may purchase the software to create new treez), so they can export into trainz.

That quote is for TSX not TS2010.
