TRS2010 Speedtrees Fix

WOW!

Nice work, Otto! Makes the framerates a lot smoother on my old ATI X550, never knew how much load all them wiggling trees put on the GPU. Only thing I would suggest is some type of readme or a restore.bat file, us old hackers can easily figure out what to do but some computer newbies might not know how to restore the originals.

This I will have to try out when I finally get 2010, which should be soon. I'll try to give the trees a fair trial but I'm expecting to not like them and knowing there is a "fix" option will make it easier to take the plunge.

Wait..."Ottodad"..."Sniper"...am I in the right place?

Regards,

Rob.

Invasion of the train wreckers

Yeah, we trashed trainsim and UKtrainsim long ago, figured this place was overdue. :hehe:

I prefer the trees the way they are.

Trees move and as this is only a computer sim, i don't expect them to be like the ones in my back garden.

IKB.

Hi IKB ............... a totally off topic question:

I spent quite a few trips in the 60's being pulled from Paddington to Cardiff behind the old Western Class Type 4's and am trying to find a realistic hydraulic drive sound for my Type 4's in TC3. As your memory is probably better (and more recent) than mine .......... would you recommend any particular sound kuid???

Many thx. Colin.

Hmmmmm ........... have to admit I didn't think of that! The one that came with the loco was certainly not how I remembered, but I shall now search DLS. Brain cells not working quite as fast they used to!!!!!

:o

Regards. Colin.

Colin i think the default sound used with the Westerns, is not the correct one mate.

I could be wrong though as i never use them. ;)

Hi Mike - The "Western default" sounds very much like a North American diesel and, while I have not had much success with DLS, the default Warship sound may be useful (-1:42003001). Now I have to wonder whether that kuid is part of TS2010 which I have on order????

Regards. Colin.

Hi Colin,

that kuid you quoted is the built in Alco sound and is included in TS2010.

Not much good for a Western or Warship.

I could not find the Western enginesound on the DLS, so i must have been mistaken sorry.

Your best bet is to look for something like the V200 german diesel hydraulic sounds. Might be one on a third party site mate.

You could get away with using that for both classes. ;)

Good point. I'll keep you posted....... albeit on a different tread. I think that I've hijacked this one long enough. Glad to see the Red Dragon is "alive and well" as it holds many fond memories of Cardiff.

:)

Or you could just set the wind to zero in the environment settings.
That's only included in SP2, and I (and maybe others) can't use SP2 because of other problems. So if Otto's fix is reversible, I'll give it a try, and thanks to Otto for doing this.
Mick Berg.

I'm one of those who's stuck with 2010 SP1, so I'll have a look see - thank you.

Now, with apologies to the op for further hijacking his thread:

The Western enginesound is on the DLS - <kuid:82525:53002>

I'm with you on this, IKB. I kind of like them waving as I speed by. It looks very much like I think it should, with the exception that that all seem to move the same way.

Help! Run for the hills. I never expected to see the name sniper297 on the dark side! Anyway welcome Jim and we're glad you've seen the light. :)
