TRS2009 Very dissapointed!

TS2009 is perfect and has no faults whatsoever.

And while i am a beta tester you will have to fight me if you dare to say anything different.

The Trainzdev forums point to the contrary ^^;;

Anyways, just my 2 cents here, I bought 2004 Ultimate, 2006, and 2009WBE.

Only ever used 2k6 for any great length of time. Sure it's buggy as all get-out, but if your MAIN reason for buying Trainz is Cab Mode Operation of Steam Engines, then it's about the best for that, IMNSHO.

2009

I'm sure TRS2006 had bugs at one time, and has been worked out. TRS2009 wil also be better and better each day, with all the new developments and new users testing, and creating new assets. Stick with it, and apply all of the patches.

Ok While I agree that 06 did have a few bugs at least you could commit content.
Since day one with 09 I have not been able to commit any content due to this problem Error: Texture compression failed for file/bakery-alpha.texture.txt'
Error: Failed to commit changes to asset <kuid2:*****:1525:1> due to file access error.
Regardless of what content I try to commit 09 refuses to commit it.
The only way I can commit anything is to use a 'convert-tex.txt as well as the normal text doc.
Have look at my latest thread Re Patch 38599 released.

Default Textures

I understand what a lot of you are saying, and some points are right. Maybe I should have checked the Forum posts first, but come on guys, most people would have faith in a newer version being better, or whats the point!? The texture bleeding are not just with MY content, but with the default content! The DEFAULT trees and fences, are bleeding their transparencies and look terrible, TRS2009 is still crashing regularly, I get a damaged database error message, which I cant seem to fix, and have to ignore, and this was BEFORE I loaded just 2 of my locos. I have not loaded anything else since. The PC does not have any obscure hardware, an Athlon/Nvidia system running Vista. And besides, TRS2006 works and looks fine. I dont agree with a lot of whats being said.

I think there's plenty of room for debate on how buggy 2009WBE is. Some have major MAJOR headaches, some just have minor problems. Myself, since I bought 2006 for Cab-Mode operation, I was disappointed as hell when 2009 turned out to have MAJOR problems with steam assets from earlier versions.

I do not know if/when some of my favorite assets will be upgraded to 2009 by their authors. As it is, after having to fart about fixing so many textures and config errors with some of the content in question, I will be damned if I'm going to even ATTEMPT to write TC3+ compatible engines for content I didn't create.

---------

Owners of both 2006 and 2009 - to see what I mean about the steam engines, load North Bay with the Shay-based steam session, and try running the engine in cab mode. As of the last patch for 2009, there are still major problems with the way the program handles pre-TC3 enginespecs on steam engines.

---------

And for the record, some of the most glaring bugs in 2006 were not fixed in SP1 (the only available service pack). Auran simply moved on and started pushing the "classics" line, much to the frustration of a good deal of the community.

You really should learn about irony before you launch into attack mode. IKB was razzing the zealots who defend Auran's software no matter how flaky it is.

Sounds like you need to do the Database error fix that can be found on this site... though I solved that problem by just opening up the Content Manager and checking to make sure the "database repair" window came up (if its needed, it automatically starts, then gets hidden right away for some reason)... If it doesn't start automatically, you can just go into "file" and select "extensive database repair". From what I've read, a lot of your symptoms are caused by the database faults that happen during the upgrade and patch to SP1 + Patches, and the repair needs to be done to fix them.

With IKB and ONZ on board, I just know we're in good hands, and the next version of this railroad themed shell game will be nothing less than perfect! I'm confident that the new issue won't break anything from the old versions, and that it will integrate seamlessly all content from all builds with no issues.

And unicorns...there will be unicorns...

I am hoping that IKB's statement was made in jest , and his only error was not including several smiley faces and a "LOL" or two ?

I could be wrong --- ,DLR

Did you miss the boat too? A statement like that deserved a comeback with another pun! Was not an attack on anything, just humor!
