Agreed - point well taken. Many of you folks from "far away" spell "English" words better than we natives do. Good for you - embarrassing for us.
As I said in my other post - Let's move on. Points have been made, misunderstood, and missed entirely. We've covered the whole gamut.
What is the 'Municipal Transit Railway'? Is that TUMEs awesome work?
TZ12(yeah I know unorthodox way to abbreviate it) looks like a fairly good installment, but I hate to say it like most people here -- not going to waste a good 1 1/2 hundred dollars on something that could be gotten for less at a later date. Not to mention I really need to optimize my PC, especially if I want the ECML all the way up to Newcastle. 2010 is slow enough as it is on this PC without extras.
If it comes out later at a lower price, I may consider it.

I'd like to see them offer the ECML as a map for TS2010.
Considering I, and many others have only had TS2010 for less than 6 months, I think it's a bit of a pig if suddenly the flagship UK route becomes a demo!!

Don't take it to heart, I think you'll find that it was aimed more toward the people who DO come from countries with English as their first language. :wave:
ECML. Well this was a nummer. I (and many others) am half way through adding AJS stations to all the stations and industries to set up a session, and now I will have to start all over when the newer version comes with Trainz12.:'(. Unless it comes fully interactive this time.

I would hazard to suggest, that the people of the USA don't speak 'English'.
The English speak English, the Americans speak American.
I say this because, when you look at the different ways we spell words (colour - color), plus the use of different
words for the same things (trunk - boot, hood - bonnet, fender - bumper, sidewalk - pavement, etc) they should be classed as separate languages.
That's my take on it anyway.
I agree. You missed "Queen" by the way, same word, different meaning...
Minor nit-picky correction, but a 'fender' is a 'wing' in British English, what we brits call a bumper the Americans call ... a bumper.

Oh, I fully agree.
The weird thing is, though, a lot of the things that are different are that way because *we* changed our spelling/pronounciation/usage, large chunks of what makes American english different are essentially a snapshot of pre-19th century British english. (Not the 'u' thing though, I believe that was an intentional attempt to differentiate the languages by Webster in 1828 - oddly, however, much like the -ize/-ise issue, British opinion was at the time split on -or or -our, with many in academia favouring -or for latin derived words)

Well, there's very few counties left in the world where the true "Queens English" is still being both written and spoken. Thankfully, in Kiwiland it's still being written & spoken in the classrooms. (taught) !!!
I reckon in 20 - 30 years I'm going to have to start taking night classes in "American" as a second language, so that I can understand what they are writing & saying. :hehe:

There already exists 2 versions of English.....
BrE for British
AmE for American
However, the word ...Bailout...will be the same for both. USA saved the USA banks.
The EU wll now save Portuagal where the government of Portugal collapsed today. Greece and Ireland have been saved by the EU
So, that said.... can we all just play Trainz?

Well, I didn't take it as hard. Just wanted to use the :'( icon!
I doubt it, at least, in paper form. It'll undoubtably be on the disk/download in pdf form, but a 240 page book costs a fair bit to print these days, and probably accounts for a sizable part of the 'excess pricing' of the collectors edition.
IMO they should offer the printed manual as a seperate purchase - they could charge AU$15 or whatever it costs to print + a bit of profit, and probably a few people would buy it 'just to be able to use it without opening a pdf'.

Not addressing dialects, actually. Got off track here. The original post pointed out that Trainz, in promoting and advertising their 2012 edition, committed 3 typos in one paragraph, and two in one sentence. Not a good start to a promotional campaign. :n:
Spell checkers in word processors are 35 years old. Someone should be able to dig one up before anymore sloppy promos are released. Image is everything in today's world.
Imagine the mess in a 240 page user manual with no spell checker. Lose that idea, guys.:wave: Euphod will be altering text for weeks!
I would have to be out of my mind to pay that amount for this. Unless there is a huge update or change to the engine, its just not even a consideration. Not that I have any big grudge to TRS so far, they have all worked top notch for me since day 1. <knocking on wood>. But in order to justify that price for me, a completely new interface would be expected. I could be wrong, but from what Ive seen so far of '12, its a slightly flashier version of 09 and 10 combined. On the positive side, until its released, who knows what the future will bring us!
I am definitely curious though to see exactly what the technical specs are- should be interesting indeed. 64-bit native? CPU or GPU intensive, etc..
