Moin,

...And if you try to import a pre-2.7 item into the multiplayer build it states in Content Manager that it will only support Trainz 2.7 and above.

Yes but it´s only a warning about that himself. If the item not faulty, it works in multiplayer so as any other then assets with a build higher then 2.7 except the graphical view on the one or another older one.
I think, all assets are accepted in future train versions, why should do N3V the repair action of DLS assets if they will not longer can be used?

I would have to search but yes...

You might want to do that search and refresh your memory. I don't think you'll find anything from us saying that.

You'll note that this is a warning, not an error.

I think I can understand where that may have come from - due to the compatibility mode being removed from the multiplayer build, it means that most, if not all, of the pre-TC assets are not usable on TS2010 Multiplayer without repairs (and possibly an update on the trainz-build tag), which the multiplayer build will revert to the DLS version anyway. (Evidence on that last part is on the Trainz Multiplayer page on the Trainz Online Wiki)

I know I do not have TS2010, but that's how I understand it.

Sounds about right to me, with the exception that there are only ~1670 items currently remaining on the DLS repair list. Even allowing that that list isn't perfect, it's probably fair to say that around 90% of the DLS content works "as is" in TS2010 native mode.

chris

Fair enough - if the DLS Cleanup process (all stages) does well, hopefully there will not be any issues.

(Just out of interest, is that ~1670 in all categories, or just certain categories like bogeys etc?)

That's my size estimate of the list of faulty-flagged assets, based on the publicly available information. There's no grouping by categories or anything like that.

chris

Fair enough - by the looks of it though, it is shrinking at a reasonable rate.

I have a feeling though, that some of them are probably going to need Auran/N3V to deal with on Stage 2 (ones that have been 'fixed', but not correctly)

I'm sure you're right. There are also those assets which are correctly formed but unusable, and those assets which are effectively useless due to missing dependencies. Lots of tricky questions ahead, but for now I think we're making solid progress. Many thanks to everyone involved.

chris

I agree - I think one I fixed somehow got the wrong trainz-build tag on upload (bus_hb, <1551:3:1> I think it was)

P.S. I realise this is off-topic, but what is the best process re patcher suggestions (I've got one relating to the DirectX version message)? I am available via PM if you want to discuss it.

Sounds as if it's very close to the point I upgrade to TS2010.
Will have to give sons a hint for 'Fathers Day'. :)

I just got my Trainz Newsletter

I went quickly to see Trainz 12. Not much there. Except - Can I trust a sim that announces its new release with at least 4 spelling errors? All of which could have been caught with a 40 year old spell checker? How deep does the sloppiness go?

Moreover, if I were were trying to sell my new sim, I would beef it up with some super screenies. To say that the ones shown are underwhelming would be an understatement? If the Speed Freeks are more realistic and so terrific, how come they aren't shown in the screenies? I would think they would be featured.

I would say Auran (or whoever is behind this) is off to a less than spectacular announcement. I'll stick with 2006, and 2010 in compatibility mode with my Ohio Central and EK3 Routes. That's all I need.

Compatibility only back to TS 2010? "Include me out." Yogi Berra, an American baseball legend.

rubbish

Hi guys,
I am perfectly happy with TS2009. Why should I buy a £149.99 trainz set that is crammed full of American rolling stock that I won't ever use? I also don't want a huge UP Big boy cluttering up my wall. Its ugly and I don't want it near my wall. It looks perfectly good with R8's, Aventadors other cars and InterCity 125

Funny you really dont know your locomotives. It isnt a Big Boy and no one says you have to upgrade. Heck some people are sticking with TS 2006 or TS2004 its your choice.

Well, except most of the new stock seems to be european and chinese, and continuing with the folding of the best rolling stock makers into the core set of assets (I see Ocemy's DF7 in there, and what looks like one of the ChS locomotives (probably a ChS8).

Sure, it doesn't have the 'OMG, ECML and new HST' focus that TS10 had, but that's life, at least the ECML is clearly progressing, as it now reaches to Newcastle in TS12.

I'm sure there will be some new UK rolling stock in there, will any of it be exclusive? Who knows.

Oh, and that's not a Big Boy on the poster, it's a Y6b, similar in some ways, if you're not even remotely interested in american locomotives, but still, not the same thing.

Hell, I still use Win XP Professional :p

(I have Win 7 Premium but it won't work with Nero 6 or 3DS Max 5, stuff I use everyday)
