TRS06 or TS09?

I was thinking about getting into the content creation vibe, and I was wondering:

Should I star making content for 09 or stick with 06 for now?

I just want to know before I start a project and everyone's in a different game.

Hi Truemac,

You ask an excellent question. This is especially so since we don't know what it will take to run the program, as opposed to the published minimum specs that will launch the program then crash or freeze within 45 seconds.

Sorry to sound bitter, but the "minimum requirements" in my experience, dating to the early '80s, is a marketing tool. Regardless of what the specs seem today, I think that anyone doing work they want to preserve should wait to see what the actual specs are going to be.

Make for both !!!

As there are (and will be) special requirements for TS2009, if these are borne in mind when creatinf, models should be capable of being upgraded to TS2009, even though created for TRS2006.

There is currently a big audience for TRS2004/6, but a lot will transfer over to TS2009 when released, and a certain percentage will remain with older products.

The more advanced features of TS2009 will undoubtedly lead to a much better game experience, so eventually all will be with TS2009.

I use TRS04, but most of my content so far has been made for UTC and SP3. There's no reason not to make your content for the earliest applicable program and letting the later users enjoy it.

I agree with Claude on this one; not everyone is going to be immediately upgrading to 09.

I appologize to those who will have this song in their head all day long but its true that is #1 on my Christmas list but I will be using TRS06

The impending release of TS2009 poses a question on me if I will convert. One side is saying to stick with TRS2006, but one side is telling me to switch.

The CSX and FEC routes that I am creating will always remain 2006 routes, but as I move to DEM for some forthcoming routes, some may attribute to TS2009.

My final answer would be to stick with both! The release doesn't mean that you must switch!

Create for both, if you know the advantages in TS2009, then create for that, and have a downgraded version for TRS2006 and TRS2004.

There will always be 'dyed in the wool' veterans that wont switch for some time.

I create primarily for TS2009, but bear in mind that people will also want for TCn, TRS2006 and TRS2004.
