TRS 2006 V Trainz Classic, whats the diff?

I have just got TC1&2 and I don't know where I stand compared to the TRS 2006 series.

Am I in front or am I behind?

Both

TC is more modern than TRS2006, but lacks many of its built-in assets.

I think the order is TRS2006, TC1&2, TC3 and arriving soon™ TRS2009.

Agreed. With the earlier versions included it's:

• Trainz
• UTC (Ultimate Trainz Collection)
• TRS2004 (now patched to SP4)
• TRS2006 (now patched to SP1)
• Trainz Driver (demo version)
• Trainz Routes (add-on routes)
• TRS2007 (TRS2006 + SP1)
• TC1/2 (aka Trainz Railways and Trainz Railwayz; lacks most built-in assets)
• TC3 (lacks most built-in assets; now patched to SP1)
• TRS2009 (currently in development)

TRS06 has more content. It's also the base for the stand-alone TC series, each of which concentrates on one railway line.

It's a lot like the episodic releases of Half-Life 2, if you've ever played that.

They told me that they have changed my name, but it
still seems to be sticking at the moment.

But I could download those assets I assume.

So the TRS series is really a better way to go than
TC series is it. If I like Tranz I'll just wait for TRS2009
at any rate.

No, you can not download the 'built-in' assets with TRS2006, but there *is* a way (unsupported) to import the built-in assets from TRS2006, into TC. Do a search for how to do this, as there are multiple ways of achieving this.
