Trouble with Paint Shed

The only Paintshed I have is the one from UTC. No version of paintshed works for 2010, thus I do not use it.
I do it manually.
Sorry, I can't help you.

I see it in several places, safe site;

http://www.fileplanet.com/139093/130000/fileinfo/TRS2004-Paint-Shed

Here's the Auran direct link, right click on this;

http://files.auran.com/TRS2004/downloads/PaintShed/TrainzPaintShedSetup.zip

Select "Save Link As".

A guide if you need a guide;

http://drucifer.net/Trainz/PaintShedGuide/PaintShedGuide.htm

Be advised, it's a simple tool primarily aimed at kids, has a limited selection of what you can paint, and requires a lot of repair work to get any of them to show up in later versions. You're really better off learning to clone a model in Content Manager and repaint using something like GIMP;

i cant find a paint shed that works can you help me find it from that bin thing that comes with 2006
If you download: http://www.gaurc.us/index_files/software.htm, and SAVE it to your PC Downloads ... open the Paintshed download by Double L Click

Run the setup.exe that is saved in your PC downloads ... select to install the TRS2004 Paintshed in Auran/TRS2006/bin.

To find that "bin" file loaction ... R click on the TRS2006 desktop icon ... open file loction ... open the TRS2006 file, inside it is a sub folder called: "bin" ... inside of "bin", that is where your TRS2004 Paintshed Launcher should be placed. Disregaurd the factory TRS2006 Paintshed icon and file, (which is usually broken, as it has missing Lang=US files, and is missing the Paintshed DLL)

Install, or drag and drop the TRS2004 Paintshed installation, in your Auran/TRS2006/bin file.

Paintshed will not work in 09/10 versions.

If you open Pantshed ... and R click on the Trainz Paint Shed page logo (at the top L of the page), and then select: "Return To Interface" ... you can always change the size of the Paintshed screen resolution to the larger size: resolution=1024x768

Partner....I have been there and done that. 2004 will open up just fine, you can select the path to 2006 just fine, and it will save just fine. However, it
"WILL NOT" show up "ANYWHERE" in 2006. I have searched these "forums(?)" until I have cramps in my typing fingers, and nobody has an answer, or nobody gives a damn...one of the two.

P.S. Goodluck getting any answers from any of the "apparently non existant" forum admins on this or any other question. So far, I am batting .000

To use Paintshed in TRS2006, you must use Content Manager. The reason the error appears (normally) is because it should only be launched through the Content Manager in TRS2006.

It's simple enough to create a new Paintshed asset using CMP in TRS2006.

1.Click the Paintshed Templates tab.
2.Select the one you want to use.
3.Right-click the template, choose Edit, then click New Paintshed Asset.

Be aware though that TRS2006 Paintshed is a bit unreliable and may freeze frequently.

To edit a previously-created Paintshed asset (if you created it):

1.Use the search facility to select the asset you want to edit.
2.Right-click the asset, choose Edit, then click Edit in Paintshed.

Remember, after creating an asset in Paintshed, you must commit it to the TAD for it to appear in Trainz.

Thanks, but I have been there and done that too. I think the problem lies in .net framework somehow. I know I should be on windows 7, instead of that crappy vista 64, but I live in a third world country (i.e. Blacksburg, SC), and even though I have had the upgrade dvd's for months....I saw "you need to update everything, and there are some "small" downloads....and with dial-up...well need I say more? Anyway, i digress. The problem is not getting the thing to run....it does, and does so without a hitch. It JUST WILL NOT ACTUALLY SAVE THE RESKINNED TEMPLATE....committed, or otherwise. If you know of an answer to the .network thing...I would sure love to hear it. What really burns me up is the fact that the program says 2.0 needs to be installed. I have 3.5 for Christ's sake. Besides, the 2.0 is right there on the disc, and when I try to install it...it says it is already installed!!! I just don't get it...I hear about blue screens, and now freeze-ups from you, and I have yet to see any of this. The paintshed runs smoothly, and even shows it saving....but I have searched everywhere in the damn database....and it is just not there. The rest of the program runs flawlessly, is totally patched,
and this one thing is all that will not work. Surely, I am not the only person on this planet running vista 64 who owns TRS 2006. Why doesn't Auran make a damn fix for this???!!! Yes, I am ranting, and I appologize...and believe me...I appreciate your feedback....but I am just lost on this one.:confused:

TRS2004 Gaurc site Paintshed works just fine on all Vista, and Windows7 - OS.

Forget about the Original TRS2006 Disc - Paintshed Icon in the CMP... it is broken.

Use the TRS2004 version installed in your TRS2006.

Install the TRS2004 verion in: Auran/TRS2006/bin/TPSData file.

You can even drag and drop the Original Disc - Auran/TRS2006/bin/Paintshed icon, into the TPSData file, and rename it: "TRS2006Paintshed_Broken" as it is irrevitably busted !
==========================================================
EDIT: I just tried it ... it saves in Auran/TRS2006/World/Custom/Trains folder.

In th CMP click on File/ImportContent from C:/ProgramFiles/Auran/TRS2006/World/Custom/Trains/YourParticularNamedPaintshedAsset , select it, to import, and commit.

I have the stand alone 2004 paintshed

I really do appreciate your help, but I think it is time I gave up on this. I have looked in the above mentioned folder, I have searched my entire pc, and did everything else, short of hiring Sherlock Holmes to figure it all out. I am happy for you that you are able to have success where I did not, but none of it changes these cold hard facts:
(1) If I use the stand alone 2004 paintshed, I can select "ANY" template from either 2004 or 2006, and it will edit and save "ONLY" if I select the path to 2004. It will then be found in the 2004 folder.
(2) If I use the built-in 2006 paintshed, I can select a template, edit it, and save it....but it will be nowhere on my pc....not in 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010,
......"NOT ANYWHERE". I am one step ahead of you, as I have tried to import to 2006, and that does not work either. This whole thing has really turned me against Auran in general.I wasted over 80 bucks buying Trainz: the complete collections, TS2009, and TS2010. Of those 3 products, I feel the most "ripped-off" with mu purchase of that absolutely bug-infested piece of crap....2010. I spent hours trying to download and install two damn patches, just to get it to even run. When I finally did get it to run, the highly-touted graphics....were no better than 2009, and not that much better than 2006. Also, even with my high-end pc, the choppiness was there, and that claim about "fast load times??!!.....give me a break!! 2009 (which I gather from reading the forums that 2010 is just an extension of) runs ten times quicker on a higher resolution!! So much for advertising. Anyway, thanks for all the help, but until they fix the bug-infested 2010, it will gather dust along with 2006. I will stick with 2009 and/or 2004 for now. At least they run like they should.:(

I use paintshed and I only have 2009. How I do it? I use the trs2004 demo to make the paintshed think it is the real game, it then saves the locos in the world>custom>locomotives folder of the demo and I can now just click on import content from cmp and tada, they are in ts2009.

My paintshed is just blank and I can't click on anything. I am running Windows 7, with a dual core processor with 2.6 GHz on each one, and 6 gigs of ram. It also takes forever to load, and then the CMP just stops responding. Pls hlp!!!!!:'(

Requiem for Paint Shed...we loved you, will be missed...for a moment...

:wave: Bu-bye Paint Shed....
:hehe:

My first suggestion would be to try Paint.net ...it's free.

Notice the Gimp is also featured on the page, it's also popular.

The beauty of Paint Shed was it's built-in weathering effects & ability to enter paint codes taken from pictures, if you were really creative, you could use the text interface to produce stripes, bands & create custom 'decals.'

It will always be there with the legacy versions it was included with, but there really is no place for it in the latest versions.

All my DLS content was made with Paint Shed in TRS2004...I am proud of my accomplishments, but today's free & payware sent most of it to the junkyard!:'(

The PS content was made for computers that had the default graphics hardware, low RAM, VGA monitors, etc. Taking the texture maps to another program like mspaint removed the weathering & produced sub-standard results, but even in Photoshop, you are still using very low poly meshes. You will be better off going in new directions.

I have that problem with paint shed 2006 when I start it I get small error window saying Use -lang=US" what do I do???

I have paint shed 2004 but when make a skin it wont show up in the game what do i do??????

P.S my trainz is trs 2006.
