its not working :p

ive downloaded all assets, the only thing stopping it working is the class 58's reskinned interior it uses.
5 errors are coming up;

Error: Texture 'block.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'bigneedle.im'.
Error: Texture 'block.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'bpneedle.im'.
Error: Texture 'block.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'cylinderneedle.im'.
Error: Texture 'block.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'cylinderneedle.im'.
Error: Texture 'block.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'ammeterneedle.im'.

does anyone know how to fix this?
im a big fan of the class 60, and all the ones on the DLS use the same model

help GREATLY appreciated.
intercityboy.

The solution requires PM2IM from PevSoft. (Download from http://members.optusnet.com.au/~villaump/pevsoft.htm)

Once you have downloaded and installed the program, there are a couple of ways of using the program, depending on how it installed itself.
You will need to open the asset for edit, then run PM2IM to fix the problem.

To do so:

1.Once the asset is open for edit, open PM2IM. (If you are using Windows Vista/7 PM2IM requires admin rights).
2.Open the Options menu, then make sure the 'Auto Convert' and 'Strip Textures' both have ticks next to them.
3.Click File then Open.
4.Browse to the editing folder then open the folder with the name of the asset you just opened for edit.
5.Open one of the files mentioned in the Content Manager errors for the affected asset, the process will happen automatically (if it does not, click Convert to .im)
6.Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other .im files in the folder that are reporting errors in Content Manager.
7.Once done, close PM2IM then commit the asset.

If you get stuck, reply to the message stating which step you are stuck on, and I (or someone else) will advise further.

ah life-saver! thank you.

as a part duex of my question if i may ask,
how do i resolve other issues (call me crazy but about 80% of everything i download is faulty)

such as mesh problems, things missing, things needing resizing.. and in one case something being faulty despite it coming up with no errors what-so-ever.

i can copy and paste a few of the problems if the community would be willing to help :D

thanks again, Intercityboy.

I get the same problem sometimes, but most problems that crop up with content has usually been fixed or encountered by someone else so it is always worth posting your Trainz-related problems on here as it is likely to get a solution or a suggestion.

(Just to let you know, if you get any more of that error (i.e. Error: Texture xxx.texture is missing or could not be loaded for mesh xxx.im (replace xxx with the respective filename) you can use the solution I have given in this thread).

Shane

EDIT: Don't worry, you are not crazy, it is always good to share problems.

brilliant thank you, but thats the thing there are so many problems im getting.

like i said about 80% of all i download is faulty.
and i dont realy want to make a thread everytime i find one. and also your the only person realy looking at this thread, and fixing all me problems is a lot to ask especialy of one person.

but, ill put a few urgent problems here and see if your willing to help me :P

1. a general problem, things i dowload made by paintshed (reskinned mk 3's hst's etc..) work, but they arnt reskinned, theyre just the original model.
if it helps;

Warning: Aliased meshes cannot currently be verified by Trainz.
Warning: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.
Warning: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.

2.Warning: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'gw_castle_body/castle main.texture'.

i think this one was covered in my original point, but theres nothing to open anymore =/

2.2. Warning: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '57xx int2.texture'.
Error: Attachment point att (a.valve_handle_1) in 'mesh-table\live_steam_injector' was not found.
i just, dont even.. what is this?

3. Error: The Tag 'epbrakes' is not permitted within a container of type 'steam-engine'.

thats it, for now anyway =/

thanks so much for your help shane :)

sam

Firstly, the warnings (normally) don't cause much effect on Trainz, although the .texture.txt ones are easily fixed. Unfortunately the ones relating to attachment points may require the original creator to update the asset.

The errors relating to words that should not be present in the config file (e.g. 'epbrakes') are also easy to fix using CCP (Content Creator Plus). To use this tool, right-click the asset, select Edit, then select Edit in Content Creator Plus. Click Yes when prompted, then when the program loads, you will need to find the item causing problems (if you double-click the error in question at the bottom, it will take you to the correct page - usually error items are marked in red.

Once the changes are made (or even if you cannot find the item in question), click File then Save. Exit Content Creator Plus, then commit the asset.

If we are lucky, other people may find this thread and give further advice.

(It's easy for me to check, as I get emails when the thread is updated)

Shane

EDIT: The correct structure for a .texture.txt file (in normal circumstances) is:

(Don't include anything in brackets in the actual .texture.txt file: they are for reference only)

Primary=xxxxx.xxx (replace the xs with the actual filename of the texture including it's extension (tga, jpg, bmp or texture)
Tile=st

slight problem with the 'epbrakes' one... im not quite sure what im supposed to do with this when i find it, because i assumed i delete it, but then everything within it becomes obsolete =/

as for the second thing i havent tried yet but im going to keep an hour aside for that :P

cheers,
sam

I will have a look on mine for that, then post a solution from that.

Shane

EDIT: I have found some of these errors don't actually exist.

To check for this, open the asset in Content Creator Plus, then just click File then Save. Exit CCP then commit to see if the error has gone.

Just out of interest what is the asset (name and kuid if possible) that is causing the 'epbrakes' error?

Error: The Tag ';' is not permitted within a container of type 'steam'.
Error: Tag 'firebox-volume' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'firebox-to-boiler-heat-flow' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'westinghouse-volume' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'main-reservoir-volume' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'piston-to-atmosphere-flow' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'boiler-to-piston-flow' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'firebox-to-boiler-heat-flow-idle' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.
Error: Tag 'max-fire-coal-mass' in the container 'steam' is obsolete.

Second EDIT: the problem with texture.txt

haha, 2010.

i cant see how it would work differently between the two versions though.

then again thats me being a noob again.

but cant see why auran would remove compatability on a later version.
especialy con sidering 2010 is considered 2009 sp4

Unfortunately, Auran made some significant compatibilty changes between TC and TS2009 - things that worked in TRS2004 may not work correctly in TS2010.

Shane

aww jeese, so close. bit dissapointing realy i bought this game for the 100's of 1000's of add ons. and noen of them realy work.

i might get in contact with the orignal author. pester him a bit :p

thanks again shane

I've sent Communist a TRS2010 error free class 58 cab, he has said he will upload it so it's a matter of waiting for him to do that.

remember- warnings can be ignored, Trainz will not be affected by these, it's only the errors that need fixed.

As stated the cab was uploaded before TRS2010 was introduced. It works error free in TRS2004 but the newer versions of Trainz pick up errors. This is a fact of life with Trainz, hopefully eventually all most assets will be repaired but there are so many of them you have to realise that this will take a lot of time for the creators to get through them all.

Unfortunately, some of the content errors are due to the creator adding extra text in the config file, or due to design/code changes in later versions of Trainz.
